The call for help again....ADH to the rescue...

Post by Missy Limkemann »

Just when things are calming down, who am I kidding, I run a rescue, it is never calm. The alert came in about a Fox Terrier with what was called a "simple fracture". Well this guy was anything but simple. We picked him up from the cleveland shelter and drove straight to our vet. The x-rays showed our fear...his leg was shattered and there was no chance of saving it. But wait, that is not the end of it, this little guy is also heartworm positive. What we do know is the dog has been homeless all his life, living in homeless shelter after shelter, never really even having a full meal, or really having a soft bed to sleep on. That all changed when ADH got him. He is now resting on a soft bed, healing from his amputation, and in 2 weeks he will start his long journey of ridding the heartworms.

And the x-rays..you can see the bones are everywhere in the leg..
