Accoding to Channel 3 news this morning, St. James is going to reopen July 25.

That is great news!

Two years to the day, that it was officially closed by Lennon, of course the last mass was on July 26th -- Which is if memory serves me correct is the Feast of St. James

Now that I have seen the name of the Pastor, I am wondering if its a shared Pastoral Ministry with the other Lakewood Parish as was suggested by Lennon last month.

Lest anyone thought there was a priest waiting in the wings, the Diocese announced that Fr. Workman from St. Clement is getting dual responsibilities for both Clement and James. The lay ministry is going to have to really step it up in both parishes. And keep Fr. Workman fully stocked with vitamins. He's young and ambitious though, probably one of the best the Diocese has to offer for such an ambitious undertaking. Before coming to Clement ran my formative parish St. Columbkille in Parma, which has more Catholics than all the Catholic churches in Lakewood combined. Best of luck Fr. Workman!

Well my memory as to the closing dates are off by month. It was June 25th that the Parish closed.

I guess I am not sure how I feel about this. I am happy that St James was reopened, but as a member of St. Clement, I wonder how this will change the dynamic of that parish. I worry that instead of one strong parish, we will have two weaker ones. I do have faith (no pun intended) in Father Workman. I agree that he is hard working and a really good pastor.
I like him a lot and think that if anyone can handle it, it is probably him. I wish him the best, of course.

And it's funny, I feel that if I had to make a choice, I would go where Father Workman is, which says to me that it is not the building or physical property that makes a parish, but the leadership itself that is most important.

I played guitar at plenty of masses at St. James.
