I think Obama's "personal decision" will backfire

I have never seen a "personal decision" used so much for political gain in my life. I think Obama's internal poll numbers must be even worse than the published ones. In my opinion the LGBT community is smart enough to see this for what it is, a strategic political move to try to get someone in his corner for the upcoming election. He doesn't have the youth or the black community like he did in 2008 so he needed some group and he and Romney agreed on marriage so this was a logical choice. I am glad he did it, it may make Mitt's job a little easier in November.

it isn't as though the GLTS folks would have voted for the opposition anyways.
I had not known he was "changing" his stance on this: I was under the impression it is the same as his stance 4 years ago. not the "wide stance" used by Larry Craig. but you get my meaning. a "Civil Union" is a synonym for "marriage". simply getting people to change their diction habits...for the sake of the "Icky Factor"....

Do you really think he NEEDED to get the gay population vote lol? What he did many will claim is political, but what he really did was validate the many good people who love their partner and would like to marry them or at least believe is possible. Don't they deserve that in this world? Don't they deserve the same rights in love and life that the rest of us do? Don't they deserve the same rights as all those politicians disgraced with all their extramarital affairs that betrayed their families? I think yes and think Obama making this change shows he has more guts than every politician in the Republican party, including Cheney with a daughter whom is gay. I celebrated this day!

echo of john edwards eh?

just because cheney didnt wrap his arms around gay marriage doesnt mean he doesnt have guts. same goes for the republican party in general. but hey, obama is synonymous with backbone. well, according to his teleprompter anyway.

although i could give a rats ass if gays marry or not doesnt mean that people who oppose it don't have guts of their own. my god, by media standards you would need guts to oppose it!

the gay agenda, yeah i said it, the gay agenda is being foisted on the american public by a complicit media even though only about 2.8% of the american population is gay. just watch any prime time show, hell, any time of day show and you will see gays more represented than people of color. i'm just sayin. (cue "gutless" replies starting.......now)

not to mention all those pesky, gutless voters out there that have shot down the many proposals for same sex marriage. what gutless idiots i tell you.

obama embracing same sex marriage is a gutless way of avoiding his crappy record.

just sayin.

America's economic and foreign policy under Obama is pretty much the same America has had for 30 years. thanks to the gridlock, and extremely moderate democrat party.

I do not understand how announcing his personal opinion at the prospect of gay marriage can detract from his contribution to the last 30 years of bad policies.

Gay Marriage is the same as "civil unions". just as a marriage annulment has the same moral weight as a divorce. Once the gays start rushing to get married, they will rush to get divorced as frequently as straight people.

and gee, the cheneys are celebrating too...

http://dailycaller.com/2012/06/22/exclu ... ather-poe/

“Mary and Heather have been in a committed relationship for many years, and we are delighted that they were able to take advantage of the opportunity to have that relationship recognized,” the Cheneys said. “Mary and Heather and their children are very important and much loved members of our family and we wish them every happiness."

sounds pretty closed minded and gutless to me.

but i suppose this is the definition of guts...

more like the definition of idiocy
