So, no talk that 2 of 5 anarchists come from Lakewood?

Two of the five Occupy-supporting Anarchists who were arrested after attempting to blow up that RT-82 bridge by Brecksville/Sagamore Hills were residents of Lakewood.

Thoughts?

According to the PeeDee, only Baxter is from Lakewood.

I'm waiting for the full story to come out on this. I've seen too many stories like this where it turns out not to be as first presented to the press.

In fact, I hope these guys have good lawyers because the story smells. All of these young men appear to be mentally or emotionally fragile and I'd be surprised if any of them were actually able to conceive, plan, and carry out this supposed attack without some prodding and "help" from the informant.

Thought I read somewhere that Hayne, the 34 year old, also lives (or lived) in Lakewood for a while...I thought it said he'd been here since 2001.

As for the planning and such, take a look at the criminal complaint documents. They are (or were yesterday) up on the WKYC website...

Who was it here on the Deck that flew completely off the handle when the that murder happened on Waterbury? 'Oh, how could we let people like that live here!? Its not safe anymore! The police need to check up on people like this that could be a menace!'
There was a fairly big discussion when that all went down.

Maybe you're not concerned to find out you may have a violent anarchist living nearby. For my own part, it's not the anarchist part I'm concerned about, its the violent part.

Gotta be honest and ask what is it worth? I don't see the connection you're trying to draw. I don't remember Ruby Ridge. I barely remember Waco.

Randy Weaver was not a gun dealer, but was repeatedly pressured over 6 months into
shortening a shotgun by an undercover agent.

Randy Weaver was a survivalist who was expecting "the man" to come and take
his guns right before the end of the world. His paranoia made a bad situation much worse.
Janet Reno wanting to prove she was tough at the FBI surrounded the cabin, and the
tragedy for all unfolded.

Not really like Waco, though many like to gloss over and say it is. In court it was admitted
that the FBI had over stepped. Perhaps that is the only similarity.

From what I have read, these screw heads, seem to have been cranked up by outside forces.
I am not saying they are not guilty, but I wonder if any would have gone down this path
had the under cover agent not been willing to help them with explosives on sale.

There are legal ways to change the system.

I see now. Thanks for the clarification.

Until I see evidence to counter it, I believe these 5 were going to do something. Based on what I've read, they were willing to construct whatever they needed, even if they didn't have the skills to do so, to make a statement and harm someone (don't think they cared who) financially. I recall two specific exchanges in the files I posted above:
1. The were willing to block off a bridge with construction cones, then blow it up, to reduce casualties (aka potential supporters). They were purely interested in the financial ramifications.
2. There's a dialog exchange about them making explosives with bleach and someone questioning the validity of it. Since bleach is easy to get, I see no reason to believe they wouldn't have gone that route if it was the only option available. Who knows what could have happened if they'd done that.

There are legal ways to change things, I agree. Revolutionaries, whether they be on the extreme left or the extreme right, are unwilling to wait for such changes.

Roy

Violence, destruction, illegal means are the work of weak minds, I am sure if they did not get
caught up in this they would have gotten caught up in something else. I am not condoning
the talk, or the actions that flowed out of it.

It merely seems to me that the Feds were there really pushing it along.

I would not call them revolutionaries, more like stupid, and now stupid criminals.

I was pondering the following....

Would you buy explosives if someone presented it to you? Or would you call the authorities based on those actions?

I think criminal intent is criminal intent regardless how "real" the means to do so are...

 Jim, I canNOT believe you are giiving the people who bought explosives the benefit of the doubt and seemingly blaming the undercover cop??? He is a hero because if they bought legit explosives who knows how many people, including children could have died. And if they got away with it then how many. I don't see any justification for what they did here and my first thought when I read this was "throw away the key." I work too hard to live next to people like this. Sorry. Same for those Lakewood guys who got popped for child porn and still ive here. No empathy.

And before you say it Jim, I have much more compassion for violent criminas when they are behind bars and not on the streets threatening our children and all of us. Thank God they caught them.

Whooooooooooooooooa
Pssssssssssssssst Justine, that is not what I have said. They are criminals and the more
we find out it would seem career criminals. I hate violence, and terrorism is just insanely
wrong if you care to live in a safe world. So when you have lets say stupid people doing
insanely stupid illegal things, it is great they got caught. I am personally not an anarchist
nor have any desire to over throw anything but the park closings.

However I do find, the conversation over the cost of explosives, to be interesting strictly
puzzling evidence sort of way.

You know...
