The Observation Deck

The alarm just went off in Lakewood so I called the police department and was told it was a "tornado drill".

While I am glad we have this system in place it seems odd to test it at random times.

Does anyone know if this alarm would also be used in case or a terrorist attack or another city wide emergency?

If so where would the emergency information even be posted?

It was a statewide drill at 9:50 today, per the governor of Ohio.

Last weds of the month.

According to Fire Chief Gillman, that siren was for "National Bad Weather Awareness Week"
and for the kids at local schools that were being given directions on how to "duck and cover"
of that was in my day, I mean how o leave the school orderly.

That would be on top of what Valerie said, which is also state policy I guess.

It would be great if there were someplace on OneLakewood.com where you could go to find out why the siren is going off. When you hear the siren more often as a test or a drill than as an actual alarm, how long until the "Boy Who Cried Wolf" effect kicks in?

On the other hand, it tested my emergency responses perfectly, in that my first response was to come to the Deck to see if anyone knew what was going on.

I think we've already reached the "Boy who Cried Wolf" point with the siren. I posted not too long ago about it going off in the middle of a day for no reason and I could not ever find out why it was activated.

Between the Saturday tests, the national tests, the test tests, and the use of the siren AFTER the storm instead of before, I've pretty much tuned it out.

Thank you for posting this. When I arrived at work this morning I heard the Parma alarm going off (which is right behind the building I work at so very very loud) and I wasn't sure why it was going off either.
