Hi all,

The big meeting is in 45 minutes! If you can get out, it will be worth it. Superintendent Patterson says that it will be about an hour, and there is childcare.

This report back to the community comes after the many many meetings Jeff Patterson has held with schools, seniors, young professionals in Lakewood, teachers, and students.

The purpose of each meeting was to find out what the community most valued in our school system in order to take that into consideration when weighing cuts that must be made to keep our school district solvent. There were no committees. Superintendent Patterson and a good notetaker, and the people in attendance made up the content and the structure of each meeting.

The Superintendent also opened the feedback up to the rest of the community-- people who might not have been able to attend any meeting, possibly people who aren't hooked up to the Internet everyday, via several articles in the Lakewood Observer, urging citizens to contact him by email or regular mail in order to let him know what they most value about our school system and a Lakewood Public School education.

What a great way to start his tenure as superintendent--- getting to know the community and their needs from one end of the city to the other.

Tonight's "report out" will be the work of a thoughtful, thorough leader and his team. Come out if you can. (37 minutes now!)
