With all news on home invasions I thought I'd post information about a women's self defense course at Fuzion Martial Arts here in Lakewood on Madison (a couple doors down from Goddess Blessed). Fuzion is owned and operated by Dan Chalkwater (4th degree blackbelt in Taekwondo) who really knows his stuff.

Fuzion Martial Arts wrote:At Fuzion Martial Arts, we are dedicated to our community. Helping others. Helping you. So we are starting a class in Women's Self Defense. This is a 6 week course that will teach you how to defend yourself in an assault. We will teach you not only the precautions to take..., but what to do if those precautions do not work.

The Women's Self Defense Class will begin Friday, February 17th at 6:45pm. This will be a 6 week course, every Friday 6:45-7:45 pm.

Not only will we teach you how to avoid/defend yourself, but we will also give you a baton, and a can of mace. And teach you how to use both. No cost to you.

This 6 week course is $60. If you are a parent of a student of Fuzion Martial Arts, you get a discount. If you sign up, and sign up a friend, you also get a discount.

Due to the limited space for this course, the deadline for sign up is February 14th at Fuzion Martial Arts. Look forward to seeing you there!

Charlie, do you know if girls can do this? I would love to do something like this with my 11 year old daughter.

I'm not sure if there's an age limit. It would be a nice mother/daughter thing to do. You could even practice on each other!

I will give them a call and ask, my daughter has been asking about martial arts anyhow so now I have an excuse. I was thinking though she should practice any moves she learns on one of her four brothers.
