Each year Lakewood PTA, has a contest for art, photography, literature, and films called,
"Reflections." Each year since we started the Observer, this has been one of two favorite
events for the year. A real celebration of creativity in our youth, and in our schools.

This year was no different, and the winners, deserved every minute of applause.

Here are a couple of images, more, including the group shot will appear in the next Lakewood
Observer, on the news stands this Tuesday! Isn't it time, you joined with the other LAKEWOOD
RESIDENTS, and businesses in helping chart and record the good news, and events.

Together, with community owned and managed media, we can make a positive difference for all.

Councilwoman at Large Monique Smith join in.

Again more images, all of the names, and some of the art in this coming edition.

Make a difference today.

That's At-Large Councilman Ryan Nowlin at the right in the top photo; not Monique Smith. Monique is MUCH prettier than Ryan.

Jim,

Thanks for your documentation of the event and for your print contributions. Reflections is a huge undertaking and it was exciting for the kids last night to have so many dignitaries present to offer congratulations.

As a side note, everyone loves events like this but they are only possible through the work of volunteers. Volunteers make a huge difference in our City and in our schools; please everyone consider what you can do to contribute to our community in this manner.

Parents, your PTAs and PTOs are probably putting together slates of officers and standing committee chairs for 2012-13 RIGHT NOW. I recognize we are all busy, but I can tell you it has become more and more difficult to fill these positions so that these groups can offer all that we have come to expect for our kids from PTAs at our schools.

PTAs cannot rely anymore on stay at home parents, but please do not let working part or full time deter you from volunteering. Jobs can be shared, and doing so often allows greater community to be built within a school as more and more families get to know one another. Please step up and volunteer!

Anyway, back to the subject at hand, Reflections. It was a fun night for all who attended and the art our students created was terrific. Thanks to all for your support. Get ready for next year's theme, "The Magic of the Moment."

Christina

Peter

That would make this "Magic of the Moment"

Maybe we could enter next year?
