Fire At The Westerly

Fire broke out this morning in one apartment in the Westerly on the 14th Floor. The entire
building was evacuated with smoke being seen on most floors.
Fire trucks were called in from Rocky River and Fairview to help with the evacuation, and
control of the situation which was more about smoke damage and inhalation then actual fires.
Some residents were taken to Lakewood Hospital for smoke inhalation.

Wow-- I just "liked" this story, freaky.
And I'm coming on to say that I'm not "liking" that a fire took place at the Westerly, but that everyone is okay.
I just drove by there and wondered what was happening. My grandma spent the last years of her life there after she moved from Baxterly, and I'm very familiar with it. It sounds like the fire was put out quickly.

Jimmy we weren't evacuated and it was on the 8th floor. They aren't be forthcoming with anymore details. I did wake up to the alarm and firemen in my hallway. When I opened my door the hallway was full of smoke. They were knocking on doors to make sure everything was alright. More info after I see the lobby ladies at mail time around 4 pm.

This intrepid reporter couid not get a statement from management and social services staff who stated and I quote "You're making a big deal out of this, everyone is alright that's all you need to know". The social worker did tell me to read the Lakewood Patch, they have all the facts. I informed the worker that they just cut and paste from this site and was told I didn't know was talking about.

Sharon
My notes actually came from a call from the Asst Fire Chief who is on vacation at the time.
Please excuse any mistakes. Bill Knittel came through the office today and mentioned he
was in the building and never even knew it was going on.
The report on residents going to Lakewood Hospital came from a police officer who also called.
Again sorry for the mistakes. Glad you are safe. As for the hyper local news source having a
national contest sponsored by their owner AOL, thanks for sticking up for us, and the corrections.
Wish you had beat all of us to the post.

Ms. Kinsella -
Plagiarism ("they just cut and paste from this site") is a pretty serious accusation that goes right to one's integrity. I'm afraid that is a very ugly accusation.
Sorry, but I have to call them like I see them!
