Daytime Burglars - Keep A Look Out!!

Just got a call from a friend over on Onondaga Ave. whose house was burglarized while she was up in the attic and her husband was at work. Besides jewelry, a TV, other electronics they
also grabbed her purse and the keys to her car which they also stole.

A Red 2003 Pontiac Vibe GT.

BE ON THE LOOK OUT FOR THIS CAR AND STRANGE PEOPLE IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD!

License is 4dsgn.

Burglars took our new tv, a nice camera, all of the jewelry my dead parents gave to me...

And Bill's new MacBook Pro.

I'm waiting to see if the "Hidden" application will help us find the burglars.

Since I posted this I have gotten calls from all over the city saying there have been day time
burglaries, or night time burglaries in their neighborhood. So many calls it make me wonder
why city hall has kept quiet, and at the same time are talking of cutting police officers!

What is going on!

My car was found at a local gas station. Maybe there's video!

Maybe the city doesn't want anyone to know about their great walkable city being a thieves playland!

Well that's the attitude.

DL, I'm sorry that this happened to you.

Thanks, Esther.

No-one was hurt, so that's pretty great.

Sadly, there was no video for the police. They have to go back to the old-timey ways.

While what they took was just stuff, it was stuff given to me by my family members who are deceased. That's the part that hurts.

DL – I glad to hear you weren’t physically hurt in this incident, probably because you were in the attic.

A co-worker recently installed two video cameras on his property that monitor the exterior of his house. He can now see what’s going on at his house from his phone. That may sound a little extreme but he’s had some issues over the past few years.

DL,

I'm glad you and Bill are well. That is the most important thing.

Our neighbor's house was also broken into within the past few weeks ... and you and I live just a block away from each other.

Thankfully we have an excellent police department! Too bad I keep hearing about LPD hiring freezes and laying off Lakewood's finest by City Hall.

Here are some thoughts:

Always make the house look like somebody is home. For example, do not leave the garage door open and no cars in the driveway. Take in the mail, newspaper, etc. With school back in session, parents working or out, neighborhoods are less populated during the daytime.

When you are working upstairs or in the back yard, lock those first floor or front doors. People leave way too many valuables in cars nowadays: computers, cell phones, GPS, wallets, credit cards, money.

Report stangers or suspicious persons immediately. Not 10-15 minuites later, but right when you see them. Remember, we have a daytime curfew. Juveniles should not be roaming neighborhoods during school hours. Solicitors and distributors of fliers may also be less-than-honest perople.

A vigorous and competitive election campaign offers a great opportunity to challenge assumptions and offer alternatives. It’s too bad this isn’t a Mayoral election year.
