Deck–ers, Get Out! before it’s too late

To all of you out there at your screens:
Soon the cold weather will be here and we will find ourselves staying in more. I’d like to extend a somewhat personal invitation to a few local occasions that I will be at the next two weeks. Maybe at least one of them sounds like something you would enjoy. I assure you all of these events are comfortable, welcoming, and low cost.
Whereas the following are ongoing favorite events or venues of mine, I will tell you that I also have my “Kristine Pagsuyoin for Lakewood Schools Committee” hat on too, as the November elections are approaching. Please exercise your power to vote and let those candidates running see that Lakewood residents continue to pay attention, are involved and knowledgeable. Yes, Kristine Pagsuyoin will get 1 of my 3 votes for the Lakewood Schools Board of Education. To read why, check out my article in the current Lakewood Observer see http://www.lakewoodobserver.com/read/2011/09/07/school-board-candidate-pagsuyoin-gets-my-vote
Tuesday, September 13, 7pm – Lakewood Observer Community Conversations – Beck Café outdoor patio, Detroit Ave.
I was at the last one and enjoyed talking face-to-face with some of the people that go with the contributing names I see writing on the Deck and in the newspaper. Very cool. Beck Cafe outdoor patio also very cool.
24th Lakewood Community Festival – This Saturday, September 17th, 11am to 5pm at Madison Park.
A Lakewood original and my favorite free outdoor Lakewood event. It was rained out last Saturday so we are on for this Saturday. See story for more details in current LO or at http://www.lakewoodobserver.com/read/2011/09/07/dont-miss-the-lakewood-community-festival-on-september-10
Charlie and I will be working Kristine’s booth at the festival. Stop by and say hi!
“Night at The Winchester” Benefit for Kristine Pagsuyoin for Lakewood Schools Committee – Friday, September 23, 6:30 to 11pm at The Winchester Music Hall on Madison Ave.
Kristine is working very hard knocking on doors of residents, talking with folks whenever and wherever she can. It doesn’t take a lot of money to talk to people but she does need some funds to help with the expenses of running for election. Her committee is putting this event on.
Good local conversation, ethnic food, and live music. The Winchester has been voted the #1 Live Music Venue in Cleveland. Music starts at 8pm with local artists - Tracy Marie (pop, rock and blues, singer/guitarist); Shadow of Doubt, Tom Petty Tribute Band; and John Tamilio III (singer/songwriter/guitarist). Rare chance to try signature foods from Madison Avenue's Thai Kitchen, Barroco Grill, Khiem's Vietnamese, Greek Village, and Tommy's Pastries.
Cover charge includes music show, food, and non-alcoholic beverages. Cash bar. Tickets available night of event or online at http://pagsuyoinforlakewoodschools.com/ Or email me through the Deck. Individual $10; Household $25; and Super Supporter $50. A Nook e-ink reader will be raffled off. Even if you don’t want to stay for food or the show that starts at 8pm you can visit with Kristine and the rest of us in the front lounge at no cost.
I truly hope to see as many of you as possible before the cold weather keeps me in more. And never hesitate to stop and say hi if you see me at one of the above.
Regards, Mel
