2011 Gun Buy-Back Announced
The City of Lakewood and the Lakewood Police Department are partnering with The City of Cleveland and the Cities of Euclid, Parma & Shaker Hts for the multi-community Greater Cleveland 2011 Gun Buy-Back program. We are joined with our event sponsors, the Cleveland Clinic; Arcelor Mittal Steel; the Cleveland Cavaliers; Burt Saltzman, owner of Dave’s Supermarkets; Medical Mutual of Ohio; Sisters of Charity Health System and the Cleveland Police Foundation, in this effort to make our communities safer.
The Gun Buy-Back will be held on Saturday September 17, 2011, between 8:30 AM and 1:00 PM.
In exchange for operable handguns, and while supplies last, citizens will receive a $100.00 gas, food, or Target gift card and Cavalier or Lake Erie Monster tickets. Citizens can also enter into a raffle with a chance to win up to $1,000.00.
To participate in the City of Lakewood, citizens are asked to bring an unloaded working handgun to the Lakewood Police Headquarters 12650 Detroit Ave. The gun must be in a clear plastic bag inside a second container. Citizens must transport the container in the trunk of their vehicle and pack any ammunition separately. Incentives will be given for handguns only; however shotguns and rifles may also be turned in.
Other Gun Buy-Back drop-off locations:
City of Cleveland: Public Safety Central, 2001 Payne Ave.
City of Euclid: Municipal Service Center, 25200 Lakeland Blvd.
City of Parma: Justice Center, 5555 Powers Blvd.
