All

As the kids get ready to go back to school and the days begin to grow shorter and cooler, it always brings an amount of sadness as the city of Lakewood begins to spin down in preparation for our winter hibernation. One of the big signs of summer flying by is The Car Kulture Show which again has grown, and is quickly becoming a key feature in the events schedule of late summer. Also Pillar's Wing Crawl came to life as one of the really must-do events as the streets of Lakewood were lined with people walking around bar to bar, restaurant to restaurant. The official count was a little over 600 crawlers. But it seemed like thousands as the streets were brought to life all day. Kudos to both groups for jobs well done.

This paper sees me back in Lakewood, the city I love for a couple of weeks before we move into AGS' next project. During this period of time I am spending a lot of time and effort in some of the "hippest" communities in the county. It is already a real eye-opener as the difference between the poorest, most troubled neighborhoods and some of the region's hippest areas can be measured in yards and blocks, not miles. But what is different is the attitude of those that live and work there. To me it underlines that Lakewood's biggest change needs to be in attitude. This I would think is good news for all of us.

This time around i would really like to thank and call out Margaret Brinich who has stepped up and really upped her game and involvement in the Observer project. Not only heading up community outreach meetings, and editing, but to writing, laying out the paper, and so much more it would bore all of you to tears. Let me assure you, she is a truly talented person, that I love working with on this project. Of course the same can be said for Maggie(sales), Betsy(editing), and Mel who continues to reach out into the community with a great message. Simply stated, what we all believe is that Lakewood is the Lakewood Observer.

Please take the time to read this issue, and to consider joining this historic project, on a level that suits you.

I love this city because of its residents and local businesses not in spite of them!

Well Mr. Sunshine, I think they might still be at the Main Branch.

I will call Admin, and ask.

Until then I will gather some up that are blowing down Arthur and bring them over.

That would be great. If you drop them off this weekend, you'll be the 4th person from the deck I've met face-to-face.
