I'm missing seeing flowers on here, especially since this year they seem spectacular.

How about a whole thread about hydrangeas. I love my hydrangeas because each of the separate tiny flowers that make up the bigger flowers are different sizes and colors.

My daughter says they look like swarms of butterflies. Does anybody out there know if this is a particular kind of hydrangea?

Thanks. I would love to see yours.

Hi Rhonda,

Thanks. Please send me pictures. Actually, post them here too so the hydrangea thread can grow.. I would love to exchange plant clippings and I would love to know your secret.

It occurred to me the other day that I have other hydrangeas that are just starting to grow, they bloom in mid August, these ones are actually called Butterfly Hydrangeas. They don't grow in big bundles, but separately, and when it's in full bloom it looks like white butterflies flying around.

As summer turns into fall, the butterflies all turn a dark pink, it's really cool, I will post them because I know the fall will be here much sooner than I want it to. I feel like it will be here before I finish typing this line.

Rhonda, looking forward to seeing your flowers.

Mine have already bloomed and are already starting to wither. I love the ones you have! Those are very unique. Mine are the usual shape, but they are a very vibrant pink. My neighbor's is blooming blue. That is also what I love about hydrangeas... everyone's are all slightly different.

Hi Valerie,

I was over at my mom's last night-- her hydrangeas are starting to wither also, but another cool thing about them is how many shades they individually turn, so it seems like one bush is full of a whole family of colors, which keep changing. My mom dries hers and keeps them around for the winter.

I think these might be upside down.

Hi all,

Happy September, I remembered saying I would post my butterfly hydrangeas, dressed up in their almost-Fall colors.
