As always, this issue of the Observer, headed by Margaret Brinich and Debra O'Bryan, is spectacular.
This issue touches on many of the fun things going on in this city now and in the future, and
that is always a good thing. We are growing and growing, and I have to say that the new influx in
old writers coming back and new writers signing up is a welcome sight.
Nine years ago we declared our freedom from "corporate news," making a stand against singular filters that decide and compete for our attention strictly for their bottom line.
Instead, Lakewoodites with over 400 years of living, working and volunteering in Lakewood thought it was more important to hear the voices of our friends, neighbors, businesses and civic leaders. They thought it was more important to give everyone the ability to report, weigh in, launch ideas and cures, and have a public discussion over what we as Lakewoodites care most about.
Well, this week we launch yet another paper. And we will soon be announcing 4 more. These are from communities outside of Lakewood, that have seen what happens when Lakewoodites stand together and take responsibility for their news and views.
Thank you for this continuing momentum, and as always, thank you taking part.
