Well, here we are halfway through the year. What have you accomplished since January 1?
This issue of the Lakewood Observer is highlighting Lakewood just starting to get into our summer groove. Summer concerts at Lakewood Park, parties everywhere, fundraisers, events like the 4th of July parade, Shakespeare in the park, just for starters. Around the corner is the Lakewood Criterium, The Arts Festival, and Starry Night, which is always the best part of the year!
This issue finds yet another voice choosing family over public service as the field for the fall elections gets thinner and thinner. While Nate Kelly tried to explain to me that
the reason for this is that people are contented, I think we all realize that we are far from contented, but the pressures of international, national, state, regional and even community is taking a real toll on the psyche of all. That there is a bit of a strange malaise that is descending over all of the country as more and more people realize the recovery will not be overnight, and it is affecting our day-to-day lives.
No matter, here in Lakewood we have it together, and are set on partying the summer away.
Once again, as always thank you to the best crew in the city. Margaret a true star, Deb what can one say, but thank you for everything you give me. Mel, Maggie, all of our editors, writers, and people who take part on many levels, especially our sponsors and advertisers; we all appreciate the muscle you lend to this civic-owned and run project. And finally to Betsy who once again stayed up through the 3am proofing and last minute changes. Thank you for your effort.
So take a break and read what your neighbors, your friends and family, the local businesses and non-profits thought was important enough to share with you through this project.
Isn't it time you shared your thoughts? Your hopes? Your dreams? Your ideas? Your hobby or just your words with the city?
Make a difference today, sign in and sign up, and do not forget to stop by the Lakewood Observer Observation Deck at http://lakewoodobserver.com/forum and get involved in the discussion and the solutions.

Party on!
