This old house in Lakewood --a big, new installation of photo-voltaic cells that's expected to provide double the electricity that the household needs--encourages me.

That new house in University Circle, not so much.

Passive House is great, don't get me wrong, but retaining embodied energy in existing houses and retrofitting them to be more energy efficient gets my vote every time.

Hi Valerie. Thanks for your like-minded thoughts. I update Gyroscopethattakesyouplaces (a bicycle is a gyroscope that takes you places) each week with posts about neighborhoods, arts, and bicycles.

I linked to your blog on my FB page today as well for some like minded friends in the architecture/construction/sustainability industry like myself to read.

Today's been a hotbed of discussions like the ones on your blog. I also posted about the Landmarks Commission meeting tomorrow morning regarding the casino and the proposed demo of buildings for it.
