A very enjoyable night was had by all at Matthew Markling For Lakewood Schools fundraiser
at Around The Corner, while many might think it is because of Around the Corner's ability to
make any party or celebration better, I thought it was more the make-up of the people there.

The group that came out to support Matt's run for re-election of Lakewood School Board where
he is currently the President, crossed all party lines, economic demographics, knocking down
cultural divides as really gave a sound representation of what Lakewood is right now. It was
refreshing to go to a political event where politics took a back seat to great conversation from
fellow Lakewoodites about Lakewood Schools and the city.

Half way through the night, the Marklings thank all for coming. It was a good party of very
diverse Lakewoodites, having fun together!

Ryan Krivosh, with our bartender for the event. As always Around the Corner did a
magnificent job hosting the party and providing everything that was needed. I am so
happy to see Ryan at the helm of the Krivosh empire, good family, good kid. Great venue
for any event. Warehouse, Patio, Side Bar, Main Bar and now Three Birds, and their Patio.

The Marklings at the door thanking all for stopping by and sharing the evening with them,
their supporters and friends. I have to admit it was a pleasure attending a political event
that had zero politics, it truly was like neighbors just talking about Lakewood.

Thank you both.

Jim,

It was a great night where Lakewoodites came together to celebrate pupils over partisanship.

The only "machine" running the night was the driving force of Lakewoodites to ensure that we maintain our excellent system of public education because it affects everyone.

Katie and I would like to give a very special thank you to the "Markling for Lakewood Schools Around the Corner Fundraiser Host Committee" which was made-up of Sheri Buckingham, Kathy Cleveland & William Forsyth, Justine & David Cooper, Heather & Scott Daniels, Julie & Mark Derrick, Nadhal & Megan Eadeh, Cathy & Vince Frantz, Laura & William George, Anne & Tom Giffels, Kara Goeller & Corey Rossen, Christina & David McCallum, Bridget & Herb Pauly, Alex & Grant Schiefferle, Katie & Sean Stallbaum, Stephanie & Kevin Toole, Heidi & Joe Walkush, Regina & David Westlake, and Caron & John Viglianco. And we are extremely grateful for everyone who came out to support our re-election campaign and educational excellence.

We are humbled by the enormous support we have received from the entire Lakewood Community.

And, as always, thanks to Ryan Krivosh and Around the Corner for providing great venue for Lakewoodites to enjoy a "Saturday Night Out" on a quintessential Lakewood spring evening. Ryan and Mickey always provide great service.

Matt

I was out of town and couldn't make it.

It was nice to see that Kristine Pagsuyoin show up and offer her support for Matt and his campaign!

Hi Bill,

Jim and Matt are not exaggerating when they say there was a very diverse crowd for the event. I was glad to come out and talk with everyone and to put "politics" aside to just talk about what is important for our schools and city. The people who were there were very passionate and I think glad to socialize with others who hold different view points. I think given the opportunity that we do that very well in Lakewood.

Bill, you will have to let us all know when your kick-off will be!

Kristine

You and I might agree more than you think.

If I decide to run for School Board my campaign slogan will be "Students First". EVERYTHING else is secondary. I'm sure you and Matt agree.

Although I am left wondering why various special interests groups outside Lakewood are pledging to spend $50,000 or more for their selected candidate. What are they buying? Are they that interested in the needs of our students? Are they that interested in Lakewood? If they are that interested why don't they live here? Why don't they pay taxes here? Are are there other motivations at work?

Just wondering.
