Families with kids in Lakewood Schools received a recorded message this afternoon from Assistant Superintendent Jeff Patterson (incoming superintendent) who explained about the shooting and the precautions that were taken by the district to protect students. I really appreciate the proactive approach the district took regarding this matter. It reassures parents and stops the rumor mill. Thanks for reaching out to parents and effectively communicating the information we needed to know.

It seems that Lakewood High School, with all the students outside crossing Franklin, should have been included in the lock down. I wonder how that decision was made.
LHS is possibly closer than either Garfield or Emerson from the shooting site.
