Lakewood Hospital - Game , Set, Match

Someone I know recently went to Lakewood Hospital complaining of pain. The Lakewood emergency room determined that she needed surgery....so the hospital called Martin Ambulance Service, transfered her to the ambulance and then drove the 20 minutes to Fairview. The surgeon said most people wouldn't have survived that long. The surgery was a success. Her family was told that she was transferred to Fairview because there were no surgeons at Lakewood.

Can a hospital be a hospital without any surgeons? It seems more has been transfered to Fairview than trauma care.

Now I hear that the Clinic is in a snit because the Lakewood Historical Society won't let them tear down the abondoned building on Detroit. Will the Clinic use that impasse as an excuse to leave town?

I wonder... the Clinic once provided detailed financial statements reporting the payroll and number of employees and the income tax paid to Lakewood. That information is now unavailable. I wonder why?

Game, set, match.

20 minute drive? While there's only an option of drive time on MapQuest and not drive by ambulance, it's still just showing 10 minutes. If both hospitals had a helipad it might be shorter but then again, it would probably take longer to get to the roof than it would to drive there. Were you doubling the time for effect or including the 10 minutes to register and diagnose the complaint?
By the way, it sounds like the procedure was a success. Is she on the mend at this point?

20 minute drive?

Uhhh.. feels like 20 minutes?

Thanks for the response and correction.

Any chance you can get that employement, wage and income tax data for the last 5 years. I'd love to get some egg on my face and see that all have increased.

Thanks again.

$100 to the charity of your choice donated by me if all have increased or remained steady year to year.

Bill – Page 220 of the 2009 City of Lakewood Comprehensive Annual Financial Report lists Lakewood Hospital’s employment at 1,401 employees.

It seems Lakewood Hospital is a stable employer and has added 23 people since 2005.

You can send the $100 to Missy’s ADH charity :D
