All
As we break into spring, finally, there is good news all around. The best news seems to be that Lakewood
has once again been chosen as the Best Suburb in the region. While this is good news, and should underline
what we already know, it gives us a chance to really capitalize on what it seems we have not yet
fully capitalized or monetized.
"Best Suburb" -- we know! While at the same time we know we can be better at so much more.
There is hardly rock solid criteria for how votes come in, and how things are chosen. Example: "Tim Smith
best Urban Farmer." Tim is a friend and has yet to plant a thing in the soil of Cleveland, but has great plans
and is finally turning the ground.
Our goals as a community should be set much higher. There are good reasons we won this year
and will continue to win "best" at everything from all of the publications that seem to be taking notice of us,
especially if we can get our community leaders to look at what is helping us win. Organic projects,
not big box stores. Sure one was for Marc's but most were for little projects that really make people
on all levels sit up and take notice.
From everyone here at the Lakewood Observer Project, to all of you getting this, thank you for your
dedication, and participation-- it's the people, the volunteers, and the many great groups working
to make this city better that should bask in the glory for a few minutes before getting back to work!
I hope to see all of you at the Old House Fair on April 16th at Harding. And hope that many of you are
coming directly from H20's Breakfast with the Easter Bunny.
Here is the crew's latest efforts, and I just love them more and more each issue.
My team, my peeps, are simply the best. To see what they do because of their love and understanding
of this community and their dedication to get fellow Lakewoodites news, views, and good stories out
always brings a smile to my face, and helps me through the long production night after everyone goes
to bed and leaves the last parts to me.
WE ALL LOVE THIS CITY AND ITS PEOPLE.
Thank you.
