LO Tabloid Mixing Facts With Opinions

Chris. Sounds as if you have a lot to say. Why not try a column or too? Write about what "biased journalism" is. Write about what it is that bothers you? Maybe you could help us get better.

Thank you, right now I am toying with some ideas for columns. They are not yet to the level of concept to be presented. But when they are, I will most certainly submit examples or ideas to get the input and advice form the LO staff.

The only suggestion I have is to include the labels in the bylines of the stories. Such as columnist, reporter, op/ed, critic, essay by...

If the editors get the feeling a news story is heavy on the opinion side, put opinion or essay by. I don't see how this would be a difficult thing to do or to understand when opinions are being expressed.

When I think of Jim, I think of that great George Bernard Shaw quote, that my hero Robert Kennedy also liked:

PS Chris...You do not need advice and input from the LO staff for your concepts. Just look inside yourself, follow your heart, and DO IT!

PPS While your thought about labeling the different articles "Opinion", "News" etc...sounds good on it's face, consider the other side; that this type of action might insult the intelligence of the average reader.

I know of no paper that has ever done this activity. Too many splitting hairs would be my guess as to why.
