I think this alone is reason to vote for the bond issue. Voting away the opportunity to return $42 million in tax dollars back to our community will be like shooting ourselves in the foot. And please don't register your dissatisfaction with the current school board by voting no. Run against the current board members or support alternative candidates. As Charyn said "Income tax, operating levies, etc. are another matter entirely..."Jay Foran wrote: First, if the community does not pass all phases of the building project...then ALL of the available $42 million from the State of Ohio is lost. This equates to 25 cents to every dollar of construction throughout the entire construction project. There is NO pro-rated option. I know because I have asked this question of the OSFC no less than 10 times since 2002.

I'll be voting for Issue 4, the school bond issue. Actually, there was never any doubt in my mind of the need for new and updated schools and the very cost effective response to that need.
But I'd like to point out something that is a first and it illustrates the progressive nature of our town and its leaders.
Today I received promotional literature for the Issue. As you all know I am a political junkie and I believe, unarguably, have the best sense of Lakewood's political history among those who post here.
One of the kids/students in the literature is an African American boy. This is the first time that a political committee has given recognition to that important part of our community.
Bravo to the school's issue committee.
Now, about my old touch football field up at Hayes---------

I'm definitely voting for it ... it's crucial to Lakewood continuing to attract new families. Worried about decline of an inner-ring suburb? This is one of THE best ways to stop that. New and refurbished schools will attract families, and keep property values up. Other inner-ring suburbs aren't doing this ... even some of the older outer-ring suburbs aren't and can't do this. It's a no-brainer, because it will ensure a good future for the city.

It gets my vote also. This is Lakewood! All the above reasons for passing it are good, so no need for me to echo them.
