What's the big deal about these boxes? Once they begin to rust, graffiti is sprayed on, garbage blows up against them and sits, they'll be camouflaged and you won't ever see them! They'll blend right into the run down rental or house that sits behind them.

Just kidding. Don't get into an uproar, I'm just kidding... kinda :D They are ugly though.

That gives me an idea - perhaps ATT could install a box the same size as the rental unit across the street from me in their tree-lawn. Then I could commission a local artist to paint a well-maintained double on the box.

But seriously, when are they going to roll-out this new service and what does it do?

I'm not sure when it's coming (I would imagine soon as AT&T has announced they plan ot aggressively roll it out this year), but if you do a search on Google for "Uverse" you'll find out all about the service.

Essentially it's super fast internet, phone, and IPTV services.

Uverse - thanks, I'll Google it.

Would I be living in fantasy-land to think that ATT should offer discounts/promotional pricing, etc. to Lakewood residents for placing these eyesores in our city?

It can't be that fast, it's copper for the 'last mile' from those hideous boxes to customers' homes.

Haha, yes, I believe so. In general though, you may benefit indirectly or directly from the service. In the markets where it's launched to date, the pricing is less than the incumbent cable operators who soon lowered their prices or improved their service.

Only time will tell if the same happens here.

I sure hope so!

Looks like the wiring of the boxes is underway...

AT&T crews were STILL working on the new installation at Madison & Wyandotte as of yesterday morning.

I was told by someone I know who works for AT&T that Uverse should be coming sometime in May. So we'll see…

Personally, I wish Verizon had FiOS service available here. With a minimum speed of 14Mbps, it would give the others a run for their money.

Now we are talking!

Rumor has it AT&T will put one of these around every Lightspeed Box in the city to make them fit in more with the surrounding areas.

Thanks AT&T

Looks like a Spanish Church. Well the stucco part at least.

A Lexus flies by, unaware of the high technology flowing by on copper wires just inches away!

Reminds me of park benches in West Palm Beach. Thanks AT&T.

Just curious...

I count more than 41 installations, can we expect these at every house soon?

Is that adobe? It reminds me of New Mexico.

So, you mean you could enter the little enclosure, sit down on the rock bench, and commune with the beige, metal box?

I think the final step will be the placement of the small table and candles...

I walked by that the other night walking the dogs. I wondered what it was going to be used for.
