Writing has been for me, at once, the most satisfying, yet the most painful thing I've probably ever done. When we retire, however, we need something to keep those dendrites firing, and writing's a great way to do it!
If only I could figure out how to write while exercising!
Still, I probably have the toughest and best-exercised fingers on the block.
Why not try your hand at writing a column? Call it something fancy, like BLUE LINE LAKEWOOD or something.
Then let us know how it is, with the folks who keep us safe.

Kevin, if you need photos taken for any of your columns/pieces/whatever, I'll gladly volunteer my services.
Not that I'm tooting my own horn or anything.
Journalism is one thing I never thought I'd get into. I never thought my writing skills were that great. But thanks to the LO, I've been bitten by the citizen journalism bug. It's a lot of work, but it's also rewarding.

Welcome home, it has been too long.
Kevin's major concern was that he might not write what is appreciated by the LO staff or readers.
The answer was , bring it, we can handle it. Even if the Observers staff and members do not appreciate it, we will always appreciate him posting his thoughts.
As Bret Callentine found out one night. All you need to do is write, send it in or post your thoughts. Many told him we would not publish it. ALL we wrong. All voices in Lakewood are valid, in this project.

Heh. Since I have nothing to do with decisions regarding the paper, I'd say let 'er rip.
Some considerations for inclusion revolve around timeliness and article length. Stan's articles, for instance, normally contain between 800-900 words.
The publisher appreciates the ability to have space for ads and pictures, although longer pieces have been printed.
