Shawn, for me it would be halfway between the Westerly and Lakewood Hospital, would be and acceptable distance, but I think the one block is longer than most, the church to Belle is a very long block.

Anyway that would be a good distance and I was referring to the possibility of some CBDG grants or some from other grant makers. Also I heard the dog park had benches they wanted to give away. There might even be a way to get some help from different disability sites. Many different ways to do this.

The setback requirements are to maintain the streetcar era look.

Then it isn't safety it's cosmetic and frankly, I grew up in Lakewood and rode the streetcars. The only buildings that look like that era are some of the old churches, the brick building on the corner of Marlowe and Detroit. The renovation of the Bailey, which I believe they intended to have a retro look, looks much too modern for that era. So basically that should make it easy to get a variance.

Simple question, and maybe you can find out. If Detroit Ave. is so tight, why does the city
insist on new buildings be built right on the sidewalk, like the new CVS?

Would it make sense to start building all of the building back 10' - 20' so that we can make
room for cafes, benches, bikes, and walking?
