Ryan -
I'm just referring to a subject you brought into this forum. However, your last response is just what I expected.

There are certainly degrees of qualifications but substance must be present. Peter Lawson Jones was an elected member of the Ohio House of Representatives when he was picked to fill Jane Campbell's commissioner seat. He has also been re-elected to that position and is a double Harvard graduate.
I would rather be governed by a person picked at random from the phone book than a graduate of Harvard University.
I think the County "reform" movement is dead.
The Plain Dealer has been pushing this issue very hard. However, now that there is a change in the government structure I think they will lose interest.
Why do I think that?
The Plain Dealer was doing some halfway decent coverage of the corrpuption and incompetance at the Port Authority. Now that mayor Jackson has decided to reappoint the governing board the PD is offering full support for the vision of the recently fired CEO and his camp followers. If the PD can't follow through on its investigation of the Port Authority I have no faith in their interest in following through on corruption and fraud in County government.
If there is to be real reform and real economic growth in Cuyahoga County the leadership needs to challenge the:
Government Unions
Non-Profits
Mental Health Servcies
RTA
The Star Chamber For The Arts
The Jacobs Group
The downtown centered economic growth model
(the new new idea is that the Port Authority funds the transfer of jobs to Beachwood and Solon and then the Port Authority funds new housing behind Browns Stadium so the people who now work in Beachwood and Solon can move from Beachwood and Solon to new condos behind the Stadium so they can drive to downtown from Beachwood and Solon each night after work.)

It has started. This could be a LONG election this year...
http://www.edfitzgerald.orgYou can get a copy of his first mailer here.
http://www.ohiodailyblog.com/content/cuyahoga-executive--fitzgerald-mailer-and-other-observationsI can't wait to see where he is getting all of this money. He spent thousands to get his team elected here in Lakewood and appears to have an endless supply based on the quality and quantity of this initial mailer almost 10 months before the primary.
Mayor, Auditor, County Exec, which does he really want? He has proven he can cut things out of a budget, but can he finish a job? When I look at resumes one of the first warning flags for me is the sign of a job hopper, someone who interviews well, can start something but can't finish.
11 more months...

It has been report elsewhere that he (Dale Miller) will be running for a county council seat.
This info was out last week.

I wonder if he will unethically mask campaign contributions as he did for Antonio, Powers, and Palin. Oh geez, there I go again! I meant Smith.
