Some more photos of signage in and around the area.

How can you not love this sign?

Historical marker for Dorthy Fuldheim, one of the grand names of TV news.

The sign for the Peter B. Lewis Building at Case Western Reserve University.
I have hundreds of photos of this unique building but I think this is my favorite.

I am really starting to think there is some award clearing house that has all of these
awards on sale!

I often thought the two biggest misconceptions in Lakewood were...

1) Crocker Park was modeled off of Lakewood.

2) That the residents of Lakewood wished they lived in Crocker Park.

well this might prove the first one wrong.

Yeah - we so hate our kids here. Basketball hoops gone, No Loitering Signs abound. Keep them in the dungeon so no one sees them, hears them.

Sent to me by a friend in the U.K. that had visited Vancouver, and reads this site.

Could it work here?

There should never be Loitering Police... but who will enforce it?

About 40 years ago in Lakewood, there was a strong program in cooperation with the schools. Children were assigned different store front windows to paint holiday themes. As I recall, it was a huge draw card for merchants as people would drive/walk around looking at the art work and generally calling attention to the entire city market place. It was a strong mix of community and commerce.

Maybe Lakewood has become too sophisticated for such a thing - or maybe they still do it (haven't heard it mentioned).

As for signage, multiple color fields and two approved fonts (for continuity) can be combined to glue together an entire city (olympic villages do a good job with this) - with an endless amount of variation and uniqueness. In Lakewood's case, pole signage and banners would look way better than those sidewalk boards (the exception being for cafe/bistro menus). IMHO.

Another inviting sign waiting for window shoppers that arrive "DowntowN" on "Mainstreet."

LOOK BUT YOU BETTER NOT SLOW DOWN!

Image

Meanwhile on one of Lakewood's side streets is a welcoming, "Come And Take It" flag.

Wish we could share the side walks the same way this invites us to take his/her guns!

Where to even start with this?

It would seem there is a new signage problem in Lakewood!

If wayfinding clearly directs...

Signing confuses, and un-directs?

I have added some more signs in and around Lakewood, and sadly removed two, well have
photos of the removed two.
