As our government hands over billions to Wall Street bankers, jobless Americans live in tent cities and collect food stamps in record numbers. Now when we need it the most, growing our own food may be against the law and punishable by a fine of up to $1,000,000. Think I’m joking? Meet Bill HR 875, The Food Safety Modernization Act of 2009, introduced by Rosa DeLauro whose husband Stanley Greenburg works for Monsanto.
Here’s a link to the article I read,

Whether or not we can raise a few hens may be the least of our worries. If this bill passes LEAF, Covered Bridge and our farmers market may be things of the past. We’ll have to eat whatever the industrial agricultural industry wants us to.
Tim, I agree. This bill is defintely something to be worried about. Monsanto is evil... they have done some good in this world, but they can be very evil. We need to beware.

Tim/Valerie
Monsanto is evil, and there is a great documentary about this very problem filmed about 5 years ago, called "The Global Banquet" that looks at how the World Bank and mega corporations are changing the way the world eats, starves and drives private farms out of business.
Part of it deals with the corporate farms and the Dutch buying up all of our farms and stores, part of it deals with Monsanto and their "patent" of seeds inclduing killer seeds and the problem in Canada where they have taking farmers to court and have won as their patented seeds germinate with others. When strains are found growing in other farmers fields they are sued and generally loose. The final part deals with the impact of the World Bank and small countries that were self sufficient, and now must grow what they are told, and no longer are allowed to have personal gardens to feed their family.
Tragic stuff, that is here, I guess.
