She did a better job on the radio this morning. It was a good discussion and we enjoyed listening to Stan Austin, Vice President of the Dog Park group.
We were also interested in callers that included Rocky Riverites who were favorably impressed with the facility and Joe Cimperman reporting that he had visited the dog park and used it as a basis for the foundation of the Tremont dog park. A woman called from Westlake who has been frustrated in efforts to have a dog park in that city.
One caller in particular noted that the complainants had been to council meetings discussing the excessive noise levels of planes flying over the canyon as well as the noise from the dog park.

I also thought it was a good conversation.
Stan's points were right on.
My point was that a judge must make RR has prove the chronic and consistent noise problem. Fortunately, this can't be verified if it's shut down, even temporarily. It has to stay open for RR to prove its point. If they could prove the point they would have done so by now.
I was by the park three times Wednesday - morning, Noon and late afternoon. There were two dogs at Noon and 5:30 p.m. None in the morning. This is likely more of a weekend and after dinner issue rather than chronic/consistent/continuous (the same of which could be said for the airplanes or I-90.)

I loved Regina Brett's THOROUGH take on the issue ... "i've never been to this dog park, but I went to a dog park once" ... so she has no trouble weighing in on the issues because she's been to A dogpark ONCE in her life, and it wasn't the Lakewood dog park.
With friends like these, who needs enemies? Or the truth, for that matter. But then again, she has column space to fill, so even if she has nothing to write, she still writes ... even if it's nothing.

The court hearing scheduled for this Wednesday August 15th at 9AM has been canceled. The court has granted the plaintiffs a continuance to prepare a response to the motion for dismissal filed last week by the Lakewood law department. This continuance is a not a judgment in favor of either side.
Please continue to distribute petitions - if you haven't signed yet, look for me at the Madison pool most evenings this week or stop by the dog park!
Thanks for your support, and especially thanks to the Lakewood law department for working so hard on our case and to Mayor George for his unwavering support!
I will continue to post updates as they become available.
