You know I am sitting here thinking of Heidi making dog biscuits, and thinking this
might be an incredible waste of talent. She makes some pretty damn good human
cookies, we could sell for even more money!
I know I could get many restaurants to serve/sell them.
I know I would buy a bunch!
You know, just a thought.

I also have been thinking about doing a "photo shoot" type of thing. Like where i can get someone in to take the pictures, and maybe give the "family" a free 5x7 (i of course will pay for the supplies) and then the family can order more pictures and i can set something up on my website for ordering.
Just throwing out more ideas....
I can help with that. I would not be looking to make anything off the prints (that's my general policy with any photo jobs I do - if I'm not doing the job for charity, I charge for my time and the client is given written permission to get prints wherever they'd like, or they can order them through my website where I make a small profit, it's handled by a B2B company that mails the prints and printed gifts to them so I don't have the extra stuff on my to-do list).
The biggest issue is finding a good space to do it, and remembering that animals aren't always willing to sit still for a portrait when there's an interesting new person around (same issue with children so I'm pretty used to it).
Some examples of my work (tho very little with animals) is up on my website
http://www.digitaldreamsphotography.com - click gallery, then portfolio. I haven't been advertising because I've had just too much going on in my own household but I can make time for a special event. I also do pro bono family portraits for Interfaith Hospitality Network several times per year, so I kinda look at this idea as an extension of that.

If anyone would like to start baking dog cookies now...PM me and I will send you the recipe. Collen Wing and I just talked and we decided (let us know what you think) that we donate the first ingredients and from then on we take from the profits to reseed the project. So keep track of your costs ladies! And begin to bake!!
And if anyone out there wants to join in PM me for the recipe. Its very easy!

I am available to bake dog biscuits or human biscuits; I can start this week. Rhonda, I will pm you for the recipe for the dog biscuits. Are we dropping them off to Sharon (remember to be very careful where you park if you are going to her current apartment!)? How many should we deliver at a time to make it efficient for delivery to retailers?
Maybe we could start with the dog biscuits and then get organized for a human biscuit/cookie bake sale in conjunction with some other event going on? Or what about Justine's idea for a bowling benefit (Mahall's?) to raise money and we could have a raffle table and a bake sale table? Just thinking out loud here.

Jim and Sharon,
We now have our cookie makers ready to bake.
Now we need a drop off point for the cookies where they need to be bagged and labeled.
Jim, did you say we could drop them off in one of you spaces for you and Sharon to work on? Is that OK? What more instructions do we need to give the cookie makers to make the "drop off"!!
Thanks,
Rhonda

I will get a graphic going this week. I am planning on making it something small enough to fit on a 2-3 round sticker. Jim, can you advise to what size and format you can print to? I plan on making it a 1-3 color thing.
Pat Catans on Berea has a great selection of different types of treat bags. The cheapest are probably the plastic clear ones, but they have a ton of different sizes in the white paper too.

Also don't we need to list the ingredients. It would be fine to do it here but remember I'm moving but I can always clear my table for a day or two. Would be better if Jim had the space. (There is an elevator, correct?)
Whatever, let me know.

Sharon,
There is an elevator. I have not heard back from Jim yet...but I think that would work great for everyone. I'm sure he will answer with a yes. He offered before and even said he would have coffee.
Sharon and Valerie,
Yes, I think we should put the ingredients on the outside..here they are...this is what everyone is making for the first batch..it has Peanut Butter, Milk, Baking Powder and Whole Wheat Flour! Organic!! My husband is going to price them out so we know how much to charge. I just bought 4 medium cookies for my dog from the leash group and they were $2 at the Furry Nation Event. So we know where everyone else is priced.
Valerie and all,
Your all doing such a great job! Make sure you keep track of the money you spend even if you are going to donate it in the end...taxes and to reimburse.
Thanks all!!
Rhonda

My kids would love to bake these with me so I can also bake.
I also can solicit businesses since I am used to that and deliver when able.
I would also like to start off the project with an article and a couple pictures. Maybe even other Observers will pick up the article but Jim would have to let me know how that works.
I have students doing community work and they would love to help bag/package once a week so let me know on that.
Anyone who still wants to do a fundraiser, like bowling with profits after cost going to the organization, PM me. It could be a lot of fun to do around the holidays and bring in extra money!
Yay! You go girls! And Jim lol

The bowling party could have a DJ, could be kid friendly or adult only, could get donations for a silent auction, a 50-50 drawing, etc. and bring in enough for at least one surgery!!!!
AND it would be fun, which we all need!!!

Here's what we have so far! Just in 2 days!!
Colleen Wing=baking
Heidi Hilty=baking
Rhonda Loje=baking
Jim O'Bryan & Sharon Kinsella=bagging and tagging
Valerie Molinski=graphics and packaging
Justine Cooper=baking & contacting vendors for distribution
Danielle Masters=distribution & delivery
????????=restocking and collection
I think we have a structure! But we need one more person to be in charge of restocking and collection and we will probably need a few more bakers. CAN ANYONE OUT THERE HELP!!
PS Ahmie Yeung is working on a second project that has to do with photography and dogs!! And Justine Cooper is working on a bowling fun night!! So if your interest let us know!

I can certainly help with re-stocking and distribution - depending on how many sites we have. Maybe we can split this up? For instance, I could be responsible for Rozi's, Green Smart Gifts and maybe one additional store. This might make it easier, if we had people take on 2-3-or 4 sites for restocking/collection. Let me know.
But if there is someone out there who wants to take on this in its entirety - please - go for it!
