That is the bird that built its nest in my tree and made a nice little home for his/her family. It was eating a bird (or something) on top of my car a few months ago and just looked at me like I was insane when I asked it to move because I needed to go somewhere. Needless to say I couldn't leave for a bit, then had to scrub my car to get all the "stuff" off of it. Ewwww....

I was out shooting house photos for a project, and saw this hawk, and then followed
it for an hour. He would land in the tallest tree near the middle of the street, and look
for about 5 minutes, and then fly one street west. Where he would do the same then
one more street west.

It would be interesting to do a bird count some day and figure out, do we see the same birds,
or are we becoming a wildlife refuge.

Coming around the corner on Oswego at 9:15pm I saw two of Lakewood's many bunnies sitting by the side
of the street just watching the world go by.

This "fella" took me and a jogger by surprise on an early morning walk this week. I've seen deer here before but he was bigger than most and too comfortable in my presence. I mentioned this sighting to a couple friends and both said that his antlers did not confirm gender.

Always love your photos Jim! Does anyone know if hawks ever fly in flocks? I live in the Carlyle, facing west, and saw about 20 or 30 of them circling above this summer. I've never seen anything like it.

There should be a Golden Nature Guide to Lakewood, put together using one of those online, on-demand book services, representing the diversity of animals in Lakewood. There could be pictures of Jim O'Bryan, Mike Summers, Suzanne Metelko, and all the members of the genus "Classus of Seventy-Two-us." There could be other Lakewood wildlife, too.
