Any ways, I hope that the Dems can come together and run a great presidentail campaign. The party does not need to be divided at this time. I am seriously frighten by any one party having too much power. Or anyone like a Perot running just to be a spoiler...

Can you please give me some examples of when this has worked in the past on any scale even close to what we are doing in Iraq?

What non-profit would you recommend?

No money in non-profits?

Even non-profits that lose money still pay their leaders - http://www.charitynavigator.org/index.c ... orgid=8074

So much for "NO MAN"

Your minister gets paid and your church is a non-profit.

How about the UN for peacekeeping Ryan. And wouldn't it be nice if no one would make the kind of money that so many have out of destroying Iraq into rebuilding Iraq..

You know, they say that if you keep doing things the same way you get the same result.

Maybe it's time for change.

Sharon,

You miss the point, did you even read my post?

I KNOW non-profits get paid. I was responding to Justine who implied that non-profits don't make money.

"Let non-profit companies rebuild with NO MAN making money off of blood that we took part in shedding."

Name another company besides Halliburton that could physically do the job.

Off topic - You are against merit based pay aren't you?

This thread definitely has ADD.

Any ways, I hope that the Dems can come together and run a great presidentail campaign.

As in the past, I predict a nice clean campaign from both parties, with ad after ad of mudslinging from the independently funded attack groups.

And I predict that starting very shortly, my phone will once again be flooded with automated messages from B list celebrities, asking for my support.

I think I'll take a page from the Simpsons and put a big "UNDECIDED" sign in my front yard.

I bet there are a lot of people from other countries who need the work who could have rebuilt Iraq. Isn't it funny that the ONLY company that is said can do it was once headed by our own Vice President? You really don't think that is fishy??? Non-profits with set salaries for the workers and the profits going to the needy make much more sense than an American company connected to the government making millions. Talk about shady! Do you really think the other countries aren't talking about all this? Pick a country, any country, and find someone to talk about the US right now. The only ones buying the BS are ones living here who don't want to know the truth. Because it is easier that way.

Justine,

Are you a politician? You sure are good at avoiding things that you cannot explain.

Non-profits don't mean people don't get paid tremendous amounts of money, and you think just anyone can rebuild a country?

"I bet"? what does that mean? Do you have the name of a company?

"I bet" not.

A politician because I can't lay out a plan on how to rebuild a country I never believed we should be in? You are telling me only ONE company exists that can rebuild a country that our country bombed, and the ONE company is tied to the Vice President? And I am the politician? Give me a break. Go sell that one to a family who lost a soldier in a war that the ONLY company that can rebuild it is American owned and tied to the government that sent their child there.

NO AMERICAN company should make MILLIONS or BILLIONS on rebuilding Iraq! And if they do, donate it to the soldier's families or other causes. I have worked for NON-Profits and KNOW many of them are scams, including the one Bill Call mentioned in another thread. I could list some here that are scams. It doesn't mean they all are or all have to be. Because I don't have a laid out plan to suit you, I don't have a RIGHT to my opinions on the stinky BS that is going on with our own government?

No,Halliburton is unique.. There are very few companies in the world that can compete with Halliburton or do what they do...

Halliburton has not made millions or billions off the Iraq contract..

Ok so they are doing it for free and everything we have read about all of it is false, except what is one the one site you posted? They are unique, tied to the Vice President of the administration who bombed the country they are rebuilding? It is what it is.

Fighting Corporate Corruption?

The ad says Bush gave contracts to Halliburton "instead of fighting corporate corruption." In fact, the Bush administration is doing a fair amount to fight corporate corruption, convicting or indicting executives of Enron, Arthur Andersen, Tyco International, Worldcom, Adelphia Communications Corporation, Credit Suisse First Boston, HealthSouth Corporation and others, including Martha Stewart. The Department of Justice says it has brought charges against 20 executives of Enron alone, and its Corporate Fraud Task Force says it has won convictions of more than 250 persons to date. Bush also signed the Sarbanes-Oxley legislation in 2002, imposing stringent new accounting rules in the wake of the Arthur Andersen scandal.

As for Halliburton, it's true the company is under investigation (by Bush's Pentagon) for a variety of allegations of possible overcharging in connection with the Iraq war. And it's also true that Vice President Richard Cheney once headed the company. But it is false to imply that Bush personally awarded a contract to Halliburton. The "no-bid contract" in question is actually an extension of an earlier contract to support US troops overseas that Halliburton won under open bidding. In fact, the notion that Halliburton benefitted from any cronyism has been poo-poohed by a Harvard University professor, Steven Kelman, who was administrator of the Office of Federal Procurement Policy in the Clinton administration. "One would be hard-pressed to discover anyone with a working knowledge of how federal contracts are awarded . . . who doesn't regard these allegations as being somewhere between highly improbable and utterly absurd," Kelman wrote in the Washington Post last November.

Steven Kelman must be an undercover, evil, greedy, soldier killing, war loving, homeless kicking, out of touch with reality republican that has hidden his ties for this very moment when he can lie to the whole world about corruption in government.

You can't trust him - he doesn't agree with the masses.

Come on Stephen - get with it - the masses are always correct.
