In an effort to get everyone mad at me, how's this?
Preferential treatment for Lakewood owned and operated businesses, especially those that have only one unit within the borders of the City of Lakewood. In this time of extreme crisis, if we take care of anybody, we should take care of our own.

I love the flavor of the idea. But what comes down from City Hall has to be fair to all. Businesses and Residents. It is really not that hard to think our ways out of this. While council has grab a small handful of towns to say this is the way, with no actual conversation to; If it is working? How it was done? What were those neighborhood like?
OR we could look at another successful ways they can help themselves. Using their parking areas, apply for patios if they fall into current regulations, AND take two of your laid off staff, and start delivering to a 10 mile radius. Currently restaurants are paying 30% of the food delivery services. RIGHT NOW the Feds and banks are under writing employees that have been kept on the payroll. That means hire 5 delivery people and they cost NOTHING, ZERO. Instantly restaurants are making 30% more than they were a week ago. Then teach the delivery people to reach out and be FRIENDLY and build that business and those bridges. Hell you could give Deliveries 15% off and still make money, build a business that when it can open completely is better than when this started. This idea was presented to NYC restaurants with blocks instead of miles by Donny Deutsch, he claims it is helping them over the tough spots.
Funny, I did not see that discussed at the meeting to give away the farm.
Makes me wonder what else could have been missing from the discussion.

My point in posting the Exner graph was to show that next month will be worse. I realize that the State of Ohio is not reporting data on recovered cases. If Bullock, Shachner, and Kepple have special data with respect to recoveries, they should make it public. I'm sorry, they don't.Jim O'Bryan wrote:Mark
A cumulative chart will always go up.
That said I recently say a report on Florida, that showed about 1,567 COVID deaths. While showing, 5,958 Flu deaths for same period.
What is amazing last year same period flu deaths were under 1,000.

Why not just open the bars back up and make them keep their doors open with fans. Safer than closed doors, and safe for the community in the long run. I would think this could be easily enacted. Lakewood is a self rule city. Go for it tiger.
Yeah okay.
As always thanks for stopping by.

Here is a drill down on Minnesota as a comparison state for Lakewood patio dining. --Increased ICU bed usage!Mark Kindt wrote:Minnesota Is A Poor Comparison State
So far, it has only reported 908 deaths. It has done much less testing than Ohio and we all know that Ohio was/is in a serious testing deficit and is trying its best to catch-up.
Indiana is a better comparison State, it also has about a 7% mortality rate.
