That was floated to me by one Lakewood's conspiracy freaks, that he had taken over the Dem Club, ruined it so not decisions could be made and underwrote both campaigns. Which is not true. I pointed out that Senator Skindell besides being one of the most honest and most intelligent politicians to ever come out of Lakewood, might have tried to reestablish Democratic rule at the Dem Club, and bankrolling was limited to partial payment of one mailing.

I would say the much larger question is...

If Cindy Marx had run on her own, separated from both the Mayor, and Bullock would she be a council person in 2018?

Good question.

I thought the whole "running as a group" thing was really weird. It reinforced the idea that they were a bunch of "go along get alongs" stuck in groupthink mode.

They really blew that one.

But beyond that, consider the bigger picture - in the past 24 years, no incumbent has lost their re-election bid - UNTIL NOW.

That's gotta tell you something and that something is that we are not happy with the current council. In spite of their fake cheer in "moving forward" and "21st century healthcare," what they really did was sit passively and rubber stamp the worst decision ever made in this city.

The remainder of council will be up for re-election soon. Look out, your turn is next.

If she, Anderson, and O'Leary had stood by the citizens during the hospital fight, I have NO DOUBT she would have been easily re-elected.
Those three are the pariahs of Lakewood.....Team Summers views them as inferior to "true loyalists" like Bullock and Litten.
The people view them as turncoats that sold their souls to the Mayor.

Marx is down........David and "Sam The Sham" are next.

i've been very encouraged by the recent changes by the Dem club.

I don't know how the outcome would have changed had there been more separation between the incumbents, but the pressure to be unanimous was designed to underscore the credibility of their efforts. Seeing that half the city opposed them had the opposite effect on me. Council was not representative of the taxpayers' voices.
