Cameron,

I predict that most of the Lakewood City School Board will vote NOT to save this important building from Lakewood's past.

I believe that the "deal" has already been made. No doubt to Liberty Development, Zaremba Construction, Rock Port Square Development or another one of the Summer's Company "friends".

The majority of the Board are part of Summer's Company and supported the plan to tear down the hospital.

Why does there seem to be so much activity all of a sudden in Lakewood to dump all these properties?

Do these Company members know something we don't? Only time will tell, but, I have a feeling when all is said and done, there will be some sort of connection between some of the Lakewood City School Board members and Summer's and Company.

There's a new post on The Lakewood Historical Society's homepage regarding this property. It includes a link to the BOE meeting in which the society's Executive Director makes a plea to the board for historical consideration in this process. You can find it at http://lakewoodhistory.org/

REMINDER: Tonight at 6:30 p.m. the Lakewood Heritage Advisory Board will meet in the Council Conference Room at Lakewood City Hall, 12650 Detroit Avenue.

I went dark on this site and missed everything... what happened at the meeting? I'm with Jackie ... Lakewood again, and again, and again rushed to destroy its heritage.

I was unable to attend the meeting but heard secondhand that there was some discussion about the buildings.

There was; I heard it firsthand. Heritage Advisory Board members seemed interested in finding a way to repurpose the structure, though my impression was that they could use help. From elected officials, ideally; at all events from somewhere.

That property, which belongs to the city of Lakewood, that is us.....the citizens, am I right? we are the ones who should have a voice, we pay the bill, the last thing I would suggest, is to have "city officials" handle it, they are the ones who have devastated Lakewood. The Hilliard theater is the latest victim. How about Hilton taking it over, don't we need a fabulous hotel in Lakewood,

The former Board of Education Building, in downtown Cleveland, it is one of the most beautiful hotels in the state, it can compete with any of them.

They converted an elementary school in my old hometown to apartments, but I am not sure what the inside looks like. The outside looks about the same as when I went there in the 19*cough* 's .

I didn't see any interior photos but it's probably unrecognizable.

Look at what they did to the historic "West Technical High School". fabulous, the Cleveland Trust rotunda building on West 9th street. What could be better than to save our landmarks? Dunkin Donuts?

That looks so similar to our Board of Education Building. Wonderful reuse of an historical property.

Yes. In Lakewood, any project should include preservation of the adjacent Central School (1879) given its historic significance to our community.
