Chief Gilman,

Tonight we supported the Lakewood High School Cross Country program by eating at Chipotle. Great numbers of the community came out to support the XC program at the high school, which is a great community asset. I take every opportunity to support my community. Supporting an ER? What does that mean? According to our mayor the plan is to become the healthiest city in America. Is there a problem with the plan? We need to become super healthy while simultaneously supporting the ER? Please explain this statement. If we are not sufficiently in need of emergency care, do we lose emergency care?

Seriously. Explain this statement.
Mr. Gilman, I notice that you're on The Deck. Any chance you'll explain your statement from September 9th that " The ER at Lakewood continues to be a community asset and will remain that way if it is supported by the community".

5 going on 6 weeks later, it would be great if you didn't go all David Anderson on us and ignore a direct question.

Mr. Buckley,

The ER ceased to be a community asset on December 21, 2015 when LHA became a wholly owned subsidiary of the Clinic (a for profit private multinational corporation with Cayman Island tax dodges to boot). Team Summers did that, not Chief Gilman.

Team Summers and the Clinic have screwed up the ER so badly to the point where morale in Chief Gilman's department is suffering---mandated protocols put people ate risk. So I think it best that we give Chief Gilman a pass for now as the whole Administration is in crisis mode now ---Gilman and his fine EMS crews have been put in a bad spot and are doing the best they can do. Gilman takes his orders from the Boss Daddy "safety director."

The toll of victims of City Hall's debacle and Boss Daddy are adding up.

Just one recent example--an 89 year old woman fell and broke her hip--EMS tried to take her to Lakewood's ER, but a sharp family member insisted on taking her to Fairview as it was obvious the 89 year old would need to be hospitalized. A family member told me that the victim arrived in the Fairview ER shortly after midnight where she stayed until she was taken to surgery at 3:30 pm the next afternoon. So because Lakewood Hospital was closed there were no beds available for an 89 year old woman--another victim of Summers' unwillingness to compromise, greed and poor planning.

I would not give Gilman a free pass. He appears to just be going right along with Summers. There is something called "doing the right thing".

Mr. Gilman, I wanted to be respectful and give you the much needed time necessary to study for your EMS test .
However it's been a couple of months now since you posted this perplexing statement without explanation.
How about taking a study break and informing all of us about the intent of your comment.

I'm not sure Gilman is licensed to answer. Perhaps he is as long as no medical/EMS information is given, but I would still be rather careful if I were him.
