Actually communism and socialism don't need to be mutually exclusive. Communism i a political form of government, socialism is a type of economy.

It's similar to how America can be a democracy and follow capitalism.

Hence why the official name of communist Russia was the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.

Seeya. By the way I'm always amazed at someone with your view. You nit the smallest points (like the difference between communism and socialism), yet miss the bigger picture entirely. Look around you though. You are not really seeing. Your sig says those who "can," create - those who can't, "erase" (you really do need the commas).

So it seems you'd like to erase the past which was built on free market capitalism and fallen on hard times, with a shiny new approach of wealth redistribution. Works great until the wealth runs out - and anyone with money leaves town for greener pastures.

My connection with the thread was that I find a similarity between regionalism and socialism. The main premise of which is redistribution of wealth or assets. You proudly pronounced yourself a socialist and I get to vent on how lame a concept I think that is.

You see Mr. Scott, avoiding work doesn't really cut it. Finding work, or creating work does. So if you want to "create" something, try creating jobs. That's what generates the wealth you desperately feel is so unbalanced. Imagine the Irish, Polish, German, Hungarian, Italian, etc., etc. immigrants who built Northeast Ohio, demanding anything more than an opportunity to just be here?

Many scratched out a living and some built huge industries. You asked what has Democracy done for Northeast Ohio? The one socialized country that really got something going, was Nazi Germany. They too were so depressed from the first world war, that when Hitler promised food for the table and affordable cars (the Folkswagen), well lot's of people thought that was just swell. So it CAN happen, I'll admit that. I'll keep looking for the changed name to Kleveland to track your progress Herr Scott
