Small Business Replys

I currently have a small business in Lakewood, Collecting Kingdom at 14235 Detroit Ave. Right between Edible Arrangements & Betty Garden Hearing Center.

Have to admit that from a small business owners standpoint that I can agree with the signage issue. My shop most of you have probably not seen because my signage is crappy.

I wanted to get a old-fashioned street sign but I was told that Lakewood did not want them. Every idea I mentioned with the gentlemen at the city he turned down. So I had to do the simplest thing which was to have lettering placed on my window. None of my sign ideas were tacky or too much but could not do them.

If you drive down more affluent areas such as Hudson they encourage signage like I was proposing.

At this point in my business I am actually moving my shop and have not decided where yet. Would like to stay in Lakewood because there is alot of potential for the area and has such a variety of business and people.

I do wish there was sometime of "Welcome Wagon" or small business group in the area. I joined the Chamber of Commerce which to be honest has been a waist of an investment for myself.

Well I can just go on and on but I do like Lakewood and actually had hoped to move to Lakewood and to be able to walk to my business but at this point I just don't know.

First can we ask you to re-register using your real name instead of wiz1939? It is our policy.

There are a couple prime locations that have come up. One I hate to say is "Preserving Tomorrow's Memories" on Madison and Hillard. It would seem according to some conversations Observers have had with Laurie Rhodes that Walmart has taken most of the progit from the scrapbooking business.

Three store fronts, parking in the rear. A smaller place would be right next door, where Goddess Blessed moved from.

Do you have any examples of what was turned down that you can post?

Were the any of the signs hanging over the sidewalk?

Thanks for jumping in on this discussion.
