My gripe with the other haters in the R party, do not tell me for one second you care about the death of four Americans, while you turn your back on genocide caused by Bush.

the mistakes of one administration cancel out mistakes from another?

does that statement imply that i agreed with the bush administration? yeah, i called them mistakes. probably a word you would not have chosen since it didnt include "lie" in there anywhere. i have plenty of issue with both iraq and afghanistan. you might say i've evolved over the years. however, that is not what this thread was about. you wanna have that discussion? start a thread. you can put all the words in my mouth that you want in that thread. that being said...

I found it to be highly amusing that while McCain was blathering to the press about not being thoroughly briefed about the attack, he was missing a two-hour meeting designed to do just that.

In addition, he continues to harp upon the need for another select committee to investigate the attack in the hope that he will chair it and keep himself in the limelight. Apparently, in January, McCain will lose his top-ranking committee seat due to term limits. The only ranking Republican spot available to him next session will be on the Indian Affairs Committee.

McCain has not political ambition, he is just a very bitter loser, and feels left behind so like

Well here we are almost immediately is not immediately. Rice goes on TV saying exactly
what she was told, nothing more nothing less. But she is guilty or stupid! Not doing her
job, no she is supposed to go outside why the CIA told her and make things up! Oh yeah,
the right would have let that slide. Obama says "act of terror" but no that is not enough
he needed to say it with conviction, and why did he let Rice go on TV and say what the
CIA told her!!!!

This is nothing more than another but of BS from a bunch of whiners who deep down inside
have sold their souls to the Republican party, not America.

It is sick. When will the right come back to America?

When will the right respect the office they covet more than the truth?

When will the right stop using our military for commercial purposes to line their pockets
with blood money.

When will the right run a person for president that is not inept, or a liar, or both.

Until Friday, there were two possible explanations for why the White House failed to immediately call the Benghazi attack an act of terrorism. One was incompetence, the other was worse.

Now there is only one, and it is the worse one. Based on the persuasive testimony of ex-CIA boss David Petraeus, it is clear the Obama administration made a deliberate decision to mislead Congress and the American people.

The repeated claim that the attack was spontaneous and grew out of a demonstration against an anti-Islam video — a claim made by the president and secretary of State as they stood next to the bodies of four dead Americans — was a monstrous lie. It was vile and done for the basest of reasons.

Because we now know the truth of what happened — CIA reports were edited to remove the names of al Qaeda groups involved in the attack, Petraeus said under oath — we also know the motive. It was political self-preservation, meaning the president and his team put politics first.

I've been watching this thread for days and this has really degenerated into the worst kind of discussion that can happen on the deck. Between this tit-for-tat, which has included photos of the president walking over the graves of soldiers, as well as charges of racism and demands for apologies here and elsewhere, I'd like to remind everyone flaming-out that it looks really bad all around. I don't post on this part of the deck often because I think it's best that I don't engage in public political forums as a city employee. But watching what has happened on this side of the deck lately makes me question what value the whole conversation has in the first place. Is Benghazi an issue? Sure. Whether or not it means anything in the larger context of politics is worth considering, but as long as people are talking about it, as evidenced here, it is an issue. But for the good of the intelligent conversation that usually pervades our discussions, and sure there have been other examples of the degenerative impulse of heated debate, I'd just like to say that this whole side of the deck could use some perspective. IMHO.
