I have learned this is called a "sun pillar" and is caused by the same phenomenon as "Sun Dogs and "Sun Halos."

This thread has always been one of my favorites on The Deck. My first cloud post was back in 2012.
Hard to believe its been almost a year to the day that I lasted posted here.
