China’s economic interdependence with U.S. allies and trading partners in east asia, as well as the United States, make most American stances or posturing non-sensical.

The “One China” policy was an understanding between the U.S. and China. Not between China and Taiwan. China and Taiwan are free to negotiate some treaty between themselves whereby they recognize each other as independent nations. Doing this under the Framework of the United Nations would be a diplomatic victory over the United States. They just have to round up enough votes to gently ignore the United States.

Ukraine was the most corrupt nation in Europe before the war. That hasn’t changed.
They may be pawns. But they are expensive pawns. The good news, for some people, is that a lot of those billions of dollars will end up back in America. It is gonna make Optima Ventures look like pocket change. Just kidding: they have probably learned to be more discrete since then.
