After all the talk about the launch of U-verse, I haven't seen it around. Does anyone have it? how is it? When will it be available to the whole city?

I'm not sure if it's available for all of Lakewood yet. But, if you're considering getting it, keep these things in mind:

- You can only have one HD stream to your home, meaning if you have multiple TVs, only ONE can watch HD at any given time.

- The internet portion of U-Verse tops out at 6Mbps because even though fiber is used to the node, it's still copper for the 'last mile' to your home.

I wondering when Uverse will finally be available in Lakewood? It seems they should hopefully have enough boxes by now.

An AT&T rep was trolling for business in our neighborhood a couple of weeks ago so I assume it's available around our part of town (Edwards Avenue). We were thinking about switching but worried about the speed of the internet connection and then this bit of useful information came out.

Hmmm. I wonder if because of this post AT&T will preemptively cut off my service? :)

Kate,

Thanks a bunch for posting this. I am sure that people would like to know this before deciding between Cox and ATT. This has made my choice very clear to stay with Cox.

This seems like a good story to go on the cover of the next issue!

Cox has great customer service. You can also bundle any of their products. I use Cox Cable for just phone and internet service. It beats AT&T hands down.

Cox consistently gets high marks for its internet service. Their customer service is great as well.

This evening 10-08-07 Cleveland City Council is looking into changing their contract. They are looking to make the "refrigerator" boxes less visible. This is to involve relocating them from tree lawns and placing them in less visible areas.

Looks like AT&T is taking the Terms and Conditions feedback seriously. They're revising them...

Yeah, sounds alot better than the Deathstar's previous mantra

"AT&T may immediately terminate or suspend all or a portion of your Service, any Member ID, electronic mail address, IP address, Universal Resource Locator or domain name used by you, without notice, for conduct that AT&T believes … tends to damage the name or reputation of AT&T, or its parents, affiliates and subsidiaries." - Your world delivered... to the NSA

Count me as a satisfied Cox customer.

I've had about 99.99% uptime with Cox since 2002. Any problems I've had were resolved within a few hours. They're speed is just fantastic (for US standards) - I just did a speed test (http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/) and got about a 7.6 mb download rate.

Still, it's nothing compared to what you can get overseas..... Scandinavia, Korea, etc. There's no reason except for greed that we US citizens are not now enjoying 25mb lines for $50 or so....

In Chagrin Falls they have the upscale "black" model of Lightspeed/Uverse boxes.

They are not like ours that stand out and are eyesores.

As you can plainly see when AT&T offers them in black you can barely see them.

Does anyone here have U-Verse? Can you share what kinds of down/up speeds you're getting? They're finally installing a VRAD for us, and it looks like I'll need to make a decision soon whether to go with the Death Star or go over to those Cox suckers.

If you want the speed and capacity, go with Cox.
