Wow, what to say about Fitzgerald having his own agenda....

What to say about Fitzgeralds cuts, guts and sell offs of this city and her services.

What to say to about Fitzgeralds motivation and now shown to be true character.

And what to say to all you who defended Fitzgeralds actions and motivations....

What to say to those of you who thought any who opposed Fitzgerald and HIS agneda was uninformed and not seeing Fitzgerald as Lakewoods saviour.

What to say to those of you who STILL are apt to see anything Fitzgerald did as anything other then for his OWN GAIN.

What to say.....mmmmmm, what to say

Oh yes, how about ....

We warned you
We told you
We saw what you all now see.

Even a rat will eventually reveal its self. ( My apologies to rats everywhere for the compairision)

Ms. Hurd,

Who is "We"? Is it more than two?

The portrayal of Monique Smith is inaccurate to the extreme and an unfair characterization. Please consider the possibility that your sources are questionable and your conclusions are unsubstantiated. I wonder at the legal ramifications of such statements. I suggest a moral obligation to retract inaccurate statements and reveal the truth in this same forum.

Never returned after first meeting? I spoke with Monique at Phase III meetings held more than once each at seven different schools throughout Lakewood during 2009. Monique Smith certainly is involved as a volunteer on the Lakewood School Facilities Phase III Committee. She served as co-chair of the busiest of the three sub-committees which also held subgroup work meetings in addition to the Phase III full committee meetings. Scores of Phase III volunteers knows she was a participant and Committee attendance records confirm it.

Not much activism? The hardest working volunteer activists know that Monique Smith knocked on more doors in Lakewood during the 2008 Presidential Campaign and spoke with more voters than any other of the hundreds of volunteers in town. Democratic Club meetings were the rare opportunity she had to sit down and yet she volunteered for additional duties then. Democratic Club members attending regularly enough to be eligible to vote were sufficiently impressed with Monique's accomplishments and dedication to endorse her for a Council At-Large seat.

While I have no first-hand knowledge of it, I find the second-hand description of a public "display of dislike" highly suspect for a couple of broad reasons, primarily because Monique Smith is a consistently sincere, respectful, and polite person, and secondarily because the remainder of the portrayal is loaded with inaccurate nonsense.

Monique is an exceptional individual who has been participating in a number of volunteer community activities for the betterment of Lakewood. She's intelligent and level-headed and has the energy and dedication to make a contribution as a member of Lakewood City Council. It's unfortunate that inaccurate statements have seen the light of day, but hopefully others who know Monique will come forward in her defense, as I'm glad to do.

Thank you Mr. Shaughnessy,

I will reconsider my decision not to consider Ms. Smith.

However, do you think that Ms. Smith can overcome what is quickly becoming known as "Band-Gate"?

We are the non Kool Aid drinking, non Lemmings who saw this Mayor for what he was and for whom/what his agenda was ment to enrich and promote.

"We" are Lakewood residents, business owners, home owners, elderly, disadvantaged and Voters who see a self serving political climber for what he is... Even before HE exposes him self to all.

We are those who saw the motives behind the absurd actions, outrages fear mongering and staged publicity seeking this man engaged in for what it obviously was, not what the propaganda lead the foolish and his devout worshipers to believe.

"We" are many many more then two.

Hay, thanks for asking Mr. Sage :D

Charles, so sue me.

Monique did do that at the pArty, I have witnesses and I said I heard about the Phase III committee, I didn't say I knew. Before you bandy about threats of litigation, make darn sure you have basic reading comprehension.

Monique knocked on doors, I made thousands of calls, didn't know that, did you? I have made calls for Obama, Sherrod Brown, Strickland - most of the time I was one of the only Lakewood dem besides Bullock that showed up on the dems club night. You weren't there on those nights. I was also there during the day so often making calls that I became good friends with Rosemary Palmer while working there. Talk to Sue Hagan about my being there making calls.

Some of us don't need to talk about what they do, we just do it and have been for many, many years. So off my back buddy.

In addition, would you relay the message to Betsey that I never got a call back from her about Obama's speech not being shown in our schools? Sorely disappointed. I called every school board member and only had convesations with two of them, one of them did more footwork then Tyson on the mats.

Want to meet for coffee? I have no need or desire to hide.

I'm sure many will be glad to know that I will no longer be going to Lakewood dems club meetings because what's going on there is disgusting and my stomach isn't up to it. You all just have fun with your stunts. By the way, nice of the club to support regionalism. Pity that.

Oh and Sage, Shelley Hurley is referencing a universal "us", I was one of them and there were many on the deck along with me. Tell Eisel hi for me will ya?

Ed Fitzgerald was the right man at the right time. He took bold and necessary action to balance the budget and preserve the financial independence of the City. He was able to do so with the unanimous consent of City council. That's quite an accomplishment for one year in office.

He worked for years on council in the service of the people of the City and made a great financial sacrifice to serve as Mayor. (Our mayor is underpaid). Politicians are people too. We shouldn't judge them too harshly because they choose to move on.

I don't begrudge him his ambitions for higher office. But since he intends to move on it’s time to consider who will replace him and who will serve on council.

Tom Bullock and Nickie Antonio have both indicated a desire to leave council after this election. Who will replace them and who will decide? Are we going to be governed by an appointed Mayor and an appointed council? Will they serve those who appointed them or the residents of the City?

The City has made great progress during the last two years. That progress can easily be undone.

Ed Fitzgerald, Tom Bullock and Nickie Antonio have all indicated a desire to move on. They are good people and I wish them well. But since they are leaving it is time to consider who will replace them.

Ryan Demro and Dan Shields are two competent and INDEPENDENT voices who deserve a second look.

Chuck -

You were on the Phase Committee? With your wife a member of the School Board wouldn't that be a conflict of interest? Is that legal?

Bill,

Wow, really? You are seriously still kneeling at the alter of a savior who just used you and the like minded for his gain and for his own personal agenda? Really really?

And the Lemmings council still is getting your praises for failing at doing what they were elected to do,...represent the RESIDENTS of Lakewood and protect Lakewood’s interests from the pariah who feasted on the flesh of this city and striped it to the bone to promote himself and his personal agenda? Really? Truly you still have the stomach for that??

Well, G-d bless ya fellah.

But as for me, I apologize to the residents of Lakewood for unleashing this destructive, opportunistic rat upon this city. I gave his campaign money, I had his sign in my yard, and I convinced many to do as I did...vote for Lakewood’s Sarah Palen. That’s an unfair comparison I know, "he" is no pit-bull (if he were we could taser him and it would be illegal to have him in Lakewood).

But I would say he has gone “Rogue”. Yes sir, I would say he has “acted in a way that is unprincipled”. I would say he is a “scoundrel“. I would say he is proving to be a “wandering beggar” and a “vicious and solitary animal” I would say he has backstabbed this city, acted out of the norm of what we residents expect from a Democratic Mayor and has moved on to climb the next rung of his personal political ladder. Those are My opinions of this guy.

Don’t be bothered by my listing of my personal observations and opinions. I am sure I alone view Mr. Fitzgerald in this light. And I am sure you also know I am the only one who holds these views So please, before you get upset, take solace in the knowing I am wrong about the guy.

Ms. Hurd,

Do you own a pitbull? (a real one not like Ms. Kinsella) I'm trying to figure out why you are so negative.

Just for giggles would you provide facts to support your rabid opinions? I am really interested.

Thanks.
