This is good for the entire city, and the entire city needs totake credit for the success.
The Lakewood Observer has now attracted over 13% of the city to write, help,
photograph, advertise, or take part in this project. As I often point out it is grabbing
it is grabbing national attention, hence requests from out of state for help on starting
city papers.
But we must not forget, that the paper is one small part of a very large project
designed to empower people and groups to make Lakewood better. Which makes
one wonder why so many hide from the light of open, fair honest discussion.
But I guess Lakewood needs baby steps, where others seem ready to make their
city open and transparent now. We need to demand more open dialogue and
accountability from elected officials and civic groups that claim to be helping and
serving the city.
Thank you to everyone taking part.
