While visiting the signs today I was wondering, why is the entire logo not on them?
Also will the final signs be die-cut to fit the sign closely?
While more expensive, I really think it would make them jump out and
look classier.

The more I think about it, the more I really like Ryan's suggestion about naming Lakewood's districts, like they did for Birdtown years ago.
"Downtown", to those of us who survived the '60's, might give a few of us a flashback to Petula Clark.
It was a great song, anyway.
Maybe this is an opportunity. I'm with Mary Anne, in that I thought the "Main Street" name thing was probably confusing here in Lakewood. (Reminded me of Disney World) and that streetcar logo thing did not make it for me either.
Risking thread drift here, what WOULD be a good name for Lakewood's downtown, other neighborhoods?

Whenever I hear the song "Shakedown Street" I think of Detroit Avenue on a summer evening/night.

Well I know some of us have formed "The Emerald Canyon Historic District Preservation Society" Mapping and charting homes for historic registry.
It would be nice to see Clifton Park reclaim land lost, which would be everything west of West Clifton.
I know that the county is helping to work on Highland Avenue, so that could also be an interesting neighborhood.
I have an 1885 Map of Lakewood that is pretty interesting for divisional names.

not to steal a thread or anything, but my house was built in the 1800's by the Nicholsons. I guess the son or something. I forget who told me that.
Anyway, I can see the signs up, just like in Birdtown and all, but I think the colors should reflect the many different lifestyles in lakewood. I think there should be other colors, purple and gold for once, rainbow for another, yellow, and then maybe a cool green one.

Many have asked exactly where the "Downtown" sign test is located.
One is in front of Geiger's Clothing.
The second is in front of The Melt.

I believe the others are just a color test.
This is what I asked Mary Ann.
I would hope they would be die cut, and possibly larger.
However, the Birdtown sign shows what can be done to fit in and carry the brand. As some pointed out, it is hard to read the Lakewood Logo, but that is why God made logos. You build familiarity, then people do not need to be able to read it. They know what it says from a distance. With the "new Lakewood Cooperplate swish, you would need time to get used to knowing what it says before it really can carry the sign and the graphic.
This treats the city logo as a design element, while making "Bird Town" the focal point. It is in classic Hunter Green with gold leaf, die cut, and made in wood, or sign foam. When you add the bracket becomes a classic simple statement of history and class.

This one blends in more with the Birdtown sign. It pays homage
to the City Logo, that was designed by a Lakewoodite. Anthony
Sinagra Lakewood's only 4-time mayor (Sinagra Green). Because
this would be the Business District, gold leaf letters, with dollar signs
and gold coins(have to have fun with it). Cooperplate to honor those
that got dressed and sat through all of those meetings.
Sharon, do you think anyone will understand the lesson? On line meetings
all can attend with changes in real time and input by many.
A little time, a lot of fun, and progress as fast as electrons!
When will this city step into the future?
No cost involved!
