Gary, while it was patently unfair for Steven to take a personal pot-shot at you (see what I did there?), let's take a step back at look at the pretty ridiculous statement that prompted his out-of-bounds reply.
What is it about losing her father a week before your fifth birthday that would make her uniquely suited to be a Senator? Positions like that aren't something we give out of sympathy or as a reward for a life well spent, but because she has ideas on how to make New York and America better. I don't believe I've ever heard a thing about her policy positions, and I have no idea how deeply she thinks about the issues of the day, so I'm manifestly unsuited to make any judgements about her fitness to serve.
Sarah Palin did offer us a precious few chances to judge her on those criteria, and that's how it became clear to a majority of Americans that she wasn't up to the position she was seeking.
It'd take a lot more than "because she's a Kennedy" to convince me that Caroline is the right choice. What would she bring to the highest legislative body in the land besides a platinum pedigree?

how about sense of humor?Gary Rice wrote:Stephen,
I try not to get personal with these 'Deck reflections.
Let's see...
So far, I've had a little toy truck posted for me to see.
Now, another personal remark directed towards me...
Enough is enough.
As a point of fact, I've never even had a cigarette, much less the liquid that you are asking about.
I would simply suggest that we are better served sticking to the issues, and leaving personal points of order aside.
Just because you might not agree with someone does not give you the right to get personal with them.
I respect your right to post your views. Please accord me the same right with my own.

In 2001, a burly anchorage longshoreman named Scott Heyworth turned up in the nearby town of Wasilla for a meeting with its mayor, Sarah Palin. Is gary sharing his bong water?Jim O'Bryan wrote:Stephen Eisel wrote:another factless inaccurate post by JOB...![]()

...and we wonder why fewer and fewer people seem to be bothering to post on the 'Deck...
Without moderation and oversight, it's just like a cyber wild west at high noon.
Stephen,
Even YOU gave up on posting for awhile, for reasons of your own.
Sorry about the lack of a sense of humor. It's all about one's frame of reference, I suppose.
That, and the fact that one's sense of humor is less apt to engage when one is the object of that humor.
I think I'm just about done with the 'Deck m'self.
Sorry Jimmy, I tried.

Don't let Stephen bother you Gary.
I don't think there is a single person who reads this board that pays any attention to him.
In the truancy thread he's made six posts and has yet to contribute anything of substance other than what he calls "humor."
The only person who thinks Stephen is funny is Stephen, apparently.

Grace,
Thank you for stepping in for me.
Stephen has a point of view, as do we all.
He also had the courtesy of sending me a personal message, and he and I are once again at peace.
For the moment...
Although at times, we might wish for some other poster to not post on this 'Deck, we all are a part of this discussion.
All.
Here's a quote from a martial artist named Bruce Lee:
"Relationship is understanding. It is a process of self-revelation. Relationship is the mirror in which you discover yourself-
to be, is to be related."
Peace.

Holy Cr*p!!! Youtube was missing a clip you were looking for. My god man what are you going to do? Did you petition them hunt down and post such a clip. Perhaps you need to call your representatives. This can not and should not be tolerated.
