it is rather frightening that the McCain campaign is fanning the flames of hatred and fear ... I actually am afraid that if Obama wins, some self-declared "super-patriot" who believes that Obama IS muslim, DOES pal around with terrorists (let's not forget that McCain pals around with G. Gordon Liddy), and so forth ... and tries to assassinate him to "save" America.

But yet, the Republican strategists could seem to care less, and they just keep fanning those flames. And you could see in the various videos that have been playing lately that when McCain sees this up close, he actually winces when he hears that people think Obama is a muslim ... but yet he's not doing anything on an official level to come out and discredit it. Yes, he tells that person that Obama is a "decent man" but at some point, he's got to say in a national forum that Obama is a Christian and a decent man ... but he doesn't, and doesn't appear to stop his operatives from continuing to slime Obama ...

I love the fact that they're still trying to bring up Obama's minister for his hateful views ... though it seems odd they want to talk about how Obama heard this guy spew his venom for 20 years ... in a CHRISTIAN church, but yet he's still perceived as being muslim. Isn't that a bit contradictory?

But ultimately I am uneasy with all this fear-mongering. It's not new in politics, but I think it's gotten uglier than ever before, and it could result in something very serious, and very tragic.

I see how all the comments on Obama's name fit nicely with a narrative that he's a secret Muslim sleeper-cell, but on the other hand, if his opponent were named John Bitler McUssolini, how hard would it be to avoid the obvious jokes?

the neo-hillbillies are painting obama as a muslim arab who wants people to have abortions and not guns. (I don't want to say hillbillies, because most of the hillbillies I know are much smarter than that.)

Osama Bin Laden and his friends have been quite clear that they are militantly opposed to abortion, and in favor of a man's right to fire machine guns on video tape.

John McCain is divorced and remarried. that used to make someone a polygamist. He completed at least 22 bombing missions over North Viet Nam, yet Viet Namese civilians were nice enough to save him from drowning when he crashed in a lake. Jesus never bombed anyone. He probably never even helped someone Ace a test that lets them go to officers school and learn to drop bombs on people from air planes.

Obama has been criticized for going to the wrong christian church. Most men go to church because their wives pressure them into it. Does McCains wife make him go to church?

John McCain is married into a big beer big distributing business. beer is the number two facilitator of friday night date rape after the football game. Do you really want the McCains occupying the white house?
