Governor of a state that is bigger than the country of Iran, and if it seceded from the nation, would probably have a comperable GDP.

I think the qualifications that got her appointed was that she can perform CPR and use a defibrillator.

Well she does have 5 children so I am assuming she is an excellent multi-tasker.

Palin's executive experience appears to add to 8 years. Obama has absolutely no executive experience. So what qualities are we looking for in the person who will head the executive branch, smoke and talk, or actual experience?

Note the wiki of Wasilla, Alaska. The 2005 population estimate was 8,471. Being mayor of a town with 8,000 people is not doubt a part-time job. Being a city council member of a town (at the time) of just over 5,000 people is no doubt a quarter time job. She has also, according to this mornings weekend edition only been Governor for 20 month, just shy of two years.

I fail to see how this counts as the kind of "experience" to lead the free world. Also 8,471 is a far cry from 300 million.

By that logic there are about 8 million CEO's around the country better qualified to lead the country.

I to cannot wait until the Biden Palin debate.

You know what got me the most about McCain's speech introducing her the other day. When he said "they were both coach's and thought their children to excel at sports." Unless you are going to handle diplomacy abroad with a game of football then what does that have to do with anything!!! To make it worse after he said that the whole crowed erupted into applause.

At least she has been a CEO of a company and has experience running a private busines as well as a state. I do not see that type of experience on Obama's or Biden's resume.. How long has Obam been a Senator?

Mrs. Palin is a terrific choice for purposes of promoting McSame's ambitions to be commander in chief. But, my guess is she'll have to be heavily programmed and scripted to deflect certain lines of inquiry.

She's very self-possessed, articulate and she can think on her feet. She's private about her religion. She may be an Assembly of God Christian, or not.

She feels Intelligent Design should be taught in biology. All this means is she is clueless about the nature of scientific inquiry, and, faith has rushed in where-otherwise-rationality might reign. ...no major knock in terms of what most people believe.

Okay, so McSame has made a play to mobilize the evangelicals. He had to do it. Palin will be a very able reader of the necessary scripts. She's very confidant and articulate. Her engagements will be tightly managed and the audiences will be tightly controlled.

Meanwhile I predict none of the Obama and McCain supporters here on the Deck will be moved to change their minds. Thus, both sides will rage and rag against the opposing candidate.

The latest innovations in campaign propaganda will no doubt land here, regardless of whether they blow in from left or right.

Consider: this election will be decided by turnout and undecideds. I don't think it likely that most undecideds are having trouble figuring out whose policies are better. My guess is such voters will be moved to vote for other reasons.

Turnout is a different matter. Here's where the investment of 5-10 hours a week on behalf of your favored candidate will outstrip any possible return implicit in spending time preaching here to the converted and the 'not-convertable.'
