Control and execution with free-thinking volunteers in a free-flow communication organization with a technological interface, like the LO, is more difficult to pull off than I imagined.

The imposition, calibration and enforcement of rules in the high stakes contest of political elections are even more difficult with the distribution volunteers, expectations for timeliness and reliance on technology.

Some divergence and delay did surface with the media expects, who still provided incisive levels of inquiry outside the LO Advisory Board.

There were some curve balls in the questions.

Each candidate and handlers make calculations and take actions in a campaign. And I appreciate the quality of the questions and responses that have been posted.

I do not believe it is the responsibility of the moderator, having cancelled the virtual debate, to post Mayor George’s or anyone’s responses.

But now that the other candidates have posted their own responses in the resident mosh pit of the LO Deck, where sans moderator a few still clamor for answers, Mayor George faces a Hamlet moment: To seal or not to seal his response to the cone of silence.

In the interest of fairness, I have to disagree with Mr. Fitgerald's assertion that there is no advantage to be gained because other candidates' responses hadn't been posted. More time to write is more time to spend on a reasoned response.

And given that the mayor turned in his responses on time (regardless of whether he chooses to post them now or not), I don't quite get your comment about him "leaping at any chance to avoid participating." Didn't you provide that "chance" by being very late?

Again, I'm not supporting any candidate at this point, so I'm looking at this forum as an opportunity to get to know the candidates.

If the mayor would like an extra 24 hours, instead of a few minutes spent un-glitching email, I would be fine with that. I'm sure Councilman Demro would agree. Then all the answers would be posted, and we can move forward withut the nonsense. How about it, Councilman Demro and Mayor George?

I'm with Ed on this one. Even with the mechanical breakdown of the well-intentioned Virtual Debate, there is still an opportunity for the Mayor to participate here, as Ed has.

I agree.

I suggest you and Councilman Demro agree to meet at a series of debates with our without the Mayor. You cannot let the incumbent scuttle the process.

Your last debate was well attended, well received and well done. I don't see any reason the two serious candidates in this race cannot agree to do it again.
